Though not meticulously engineered by any means I have found this tent to be very practical for three1/2 season use in the Sierra and in the local so-cal mountains. It is the lightest free-standing tent I've found. Because of it's clip/sleeve combination it is very easy to pitch, easier than another freestanding tent I've owned (REI Half-dome) . At 6'2"" I have plenty of room to stretch out and sit up. I did remove the poorly placed storage pockets from the foot and head and sew them up so they could be hung from the gear loft loops. I have not been through any sustained rain-storms in it as yet but have weathered some nasty short-term Sierra storms w/o the tent threatening to blow apart or water getting in. It would have made more sense to place the no-see-um inside the solid door panel (as was the case in my pre-vestibule craze North Face) but this didn't cause problems in shedding rain. In lieu of a vestibule I merely stake my poncho out over the tent and my backpack as I used to do with the North Face. This gives me cooking area and a place to put my shoes etc. The tent ""breathes"" nicely . Their special patented groovy ventilation system is pretty stupid without a vestibule of some sort but does the job well enough when protected from direct exposure to the rain. Though Eureka claims that it isn't necessary to seal the wall seams, I took no chances. There is enough sealer included to do the job. I also replaced the cheesy stakes provided with some others I had. Even with all this quibbling I can easily say that if you prefer a free-standing tent and feel you can manage easily enough with an improvised vestibule or none at all then this is a very good value that is often available at a $99.00 sale price.
