Solid single wall tent. Spacious as a solo, cozy with the wife. Very easy to pitch, under 4#, never had a condensation problem.

Bought the GoLite Den 2 roughly 5 months ago when they lowered the price to $199. Was intrigued by the lightweight and unusual design but felt I might be taking a gamble, as I hadn’t heard or read anything about its performance. Well... I''m glad I took the chance. Not only is its weight exactly what GoLite said it was - 3lbs, 8oz (tent, poles, stakes, guylines and all storage sacks!) but it is well constructed, unbelievably easy to set-up, a castle for one and more than adequate for two, and it has performed very well. I was recently backpacking in northern California and got caught in quite a storm. High winds turned to rain, which became hail, and as I watched the temp drop to 35 degrees, I thought snow might be on the way as well. It was quite a night and, even though GoLite says it was designed for milder weather, the Den 2 performed like a champ. Even with the rain/hail and high winds I was able to keep the large mesh front door and back almost completely open to deal with condensation - and not a drop of rain made it''s way inside. Impressive. This month’s issue of Backpacker has a review on the Den 2. They took it up to Denali and put it through its paces against the temperamental Alaskan weather and it received kudos for its light weight and keeping everyone dry for a week. It''s good to see they like it as much as I do too. We’ll see how it does in the warmer temps, but so far it’s a winner for sure. Customer Service As I was sealing the Den 2, I ran out of the Sil-Net seam sealer that came with the tent. Couldn''t find any localy. Called up GoLite and they sent out another tube the next day. They offer great cust Similar Products Used: Kelty, Sierra Designs. |

Strength:

Weakness:
None The published weight is now 3.5 lbs. which was verified on my postal scale at home, and the new price is about $215 with shipping. My partner and I used this tent during a two night trip in Va over the holiday weekend and were very impressed with the quality of the product. One thing that stood out were the tent stakes which were high strength aluminum, and not the wimpy thin/light kind I expected to come with this light tent! I think the reduced weight of this single wall tent is bargin a around $200US. The nylon cord used to pitch this tent is black, but I plan to change it to a reflective type before my next trip...
