I also bought this tent at sierra tradding post, and I've been using it for the last month strait on a university ecology study trip. I actualy did find the setup a bit confussing but figured it out quickly. There are 4 poles of equal length. 2 have red tape on one end. Those two poles feed into the sleeves from the front, RED end first. The other ends of those poles stick into the eyelets at the ends of the sleeves. You must put them into the eyelets closer to the tent as the others are used to mount the fly. The other two long poles slide directly across the front and rear of the tent at right angles to the front of the tent through the gaps under the sleeves the first poles ran through. YOu then bend these poles so that they follow the seams toward the opposite end of the tent from where they are inserted, and placed into the eyelets so that they are attached at the end opposite the bend. Stake down the tent and thenput the fly on. That short pole with teh angle in it is used to in the sleeve at the front end of the vestibule. It's really now as bad as that sounds and if I could show you it would be easy. I can put it up in about 3 minutes. Other than that it worked great. It's a bit heavy, but thats to be expected with a 4 season tent. I did however have a pole break on me while setting up once. The pole patch that came with the tent made it survive the trip though. If anyone knows how to order another pole, let me know. Similar Products Used: Nothing quite like this. It's a very inovative design. |
