Kelty Riverbend 2 Tent Tents

Kelty Riverbend 2 Tent Tents

DESCRIPTION

Designed with large ceiling and window panels for ventilation, this two-person tent is great for three-season use. Freestanding, lightweight, two-pole design allows fast, easy setup; DAC Featherlite® poles are 10-15% lighter for same strength. FlyBoy® technology anchors the body, rainfly and poles together into a single, unitized, self-reinforcing structure. Webforce™ stabilizes the tent further and eases setup--trusses guide poles through intersections and tendons lock stakeout points to FlyBoy. Full-coverage rainfly features stakeout vestibule for gear storage and an Eclipse™ photochromatic window to view the weather. Vaulted pole sleeves increase airflow between tent and rainfly to prevent condensation. ArcEdge™ floor remains taut with specially-constructed, waterproof seams that are up off the ground.

This review is for Riverbend 2. It performs well under (approx.) 40 mph gust and rain on top of Mount Ciremai, West Java (+/- 9852 feet ASL). I setup the tent with all guylines and I was little bit surprised about how this baby stands still and eat wind!! very sexy.. Pro: quick setup, fair weight, moderate price, nice-looking, roomy and strength. Con: rainfly is too high from ground, under heavy rain the lower tent body got wet. No gear loaf. Vestibule too small for 2 persons's gear. All-in-all, good enough for backpacking and camping in tropical countries if you can set it up properly.

I purchased this tent at Valhalla Pure for an off-road touring trip on my Mt. Bike. The easy set up and room in this tent is awsome. It was very nice after a long day of peddaling to have to spend so little time and energy in setting up this tent. My 6'2 frame never came close to streaching the end of the tent. In fact during a stay at a seedy campground I thought it smart to have the paniers inside the tent. I thought it would be cramped, but my girlfrien and I found that we did not even notice the added gear in the tent that night. I was not forced to scrunch up my legs like I thought. The bag that the tent came in was a little large for the size of the tent but I purchased a compression bag for it and my family and friends were very impressed with the size of the tent after compression. So was I for that matter. The tent weighed in at almost 5 pounds after I added the compression sack, wich is very managable. The mesh top offers awsome star gazing with the fly off. The fly has vents which allow for good air flow, and windows that tint when the sun hits them. Very cool! I highly recomend this tent for its ease in setting up, quality, and design.
