My price listed includes the vestibule, in case anyone asks. I've enjoyed this tent, first with my wife and two kids; now without my wife (ex-). We used it back in the fall for an extended weekend outing during which time it mostly rained and dropped below freezing at night (Texas Panhandle). Honestly, it didn't leak a drop -- and the storm was ferocious. It's easy to put up -- I like the clips. It helps to have the kids on the other end of the poles. The vestibule is a challenge. We didn't use it last time. We're heading out to the Texas Gulf coast when school lets out to do our first primitive camping. We're very comfortable with this tent. I'd buy another if Kelty hadn't stopped making them. Customer Service I needed to buy the Kelty Sunshade for our upcoming beach camping trip, and Kelty's website put us in touch with American Wilderness Gear right away so we could purchase it, even though everyone else was backordered. www.awgear.com was very helpful, as well. I actually have the domolite 6, which has sleeves instead of clips. The tent is a great family tent. OK for two adults and 3 small kids, but when number 4 kid came along it is too small. But, i have used extensively in four seasons. Poles in the sleeve design susceptible to breaking but Kelty's service is excellent. They've replaced every pole (3) for free. Grommets are starting to pop, I'm sure kelty will fix for free. Easy to set up. Keeps you dry. Excellent ventilation. 2 doors a must! Too heavy to backpack, great canoe camper and with the right sleeping bag ok in winter - I've used it down to 5 degrees. Customer Service Excellent. They stand by their product. I got this tent thinking I might use it for some backpacking. No way, way to heavy. Great for car camping. Set up is easy if you can read - instructions came with my tent. The vestibule on the other hand isn't so easy. Instructions included didn't help that much. Be sure to have a "dry" run at setting up the vestibule. After using it several times, set-up with the vestibule is easy! Huge tent, great for camping with families, six inside would be cozey, four with all kinds of stuff fit easily. Very happy with this tent but won't take it backpacking... ever! Similar Products Used: None |

This was my first tent and I have used it for both car and boat camping. I disagree with previous reviews indicating the tent is difficult to setup. As a "rookie", I had no problems with the clip design which is color coded. I did buy the vestibule and yes, there are no instructions. I did what is suggested by every outdoorsman and set it up in a trial run. My second time out, I set up the vestibule in about 4 minutes. In terms of performance, I did a cold weather camp (24 degrees) and woke up to driving sleet. Since this was on my property, I left the tent standing anchored only by the 4 straps at each corner (no guyouts). I returned 8 DAYS LATER and found the tent perfectly intact with NO leaks. Please note we had strong winds and rain during this time. |

I use this tent for my family of four, and even though it says it sleeps 6, with 2 adults and 2 kids and their stuff it is just right. It sets up easily and even the kids can do most of it now. I bought the vestibule also (33 sq ft) and it is quite large but somewhat difficult to setup. We use this for car-camping and it is quite heavy (12 lbs), so you may want to get a second tent for backpacking. Similar Products Used: None |

Having had a number of smaller tents, I am quite able to put up a tent (even in the dark). This is my first large tent (growing family) and found it somewhat confusing at first. I'm glad I did a trial run with my boys before taking it out! After a bit of fumbling, we finally got it up. We really got confused when trying to put up the add-on vestibule!!! This took longer than putting the tent together itself! The ""Owners manual"" is a great learning tool for the boys as to what to do and not do with a tent. What it really needs is some instructions on how to put the darn thing up. Especially what goes where and what to insert/erect first! Customer Service Not sure where to go with the ratings. Overall, the tent construction is excellent and well designed. What really got me was the instructions! The vestibule had the same owners manual as the tent! The thought to return the package because of frustration in setting up did cross my mind. I figured that it was perhaps of a lack of communication that the instructions were incomplete or perhaps just missing! Anyway, it's still a great tent. This is a very good tent for family type camping, a bit heavy for backpacking, but not bad for car campers. It is quite easy to put up, but the vestibule is hard to attach and I can't say it is worth the effort unless you really need the room. This tent sleeps 4 with no problem, and a bit of space for gear. But 6 would certainly be a push in terms of sleeping. In heavy rain there can be a bit of leakeage around the lower sections since the fly does not cover this area as well as could be expected. But even after several days of heavy rain the tent is quite OK and very livable unless you are worried about a few drops of water. Customer Service Kelty has been very good about any and all service, so far only a ripped carry bag. Similar Products Used: I have also had tents of this type from Northface and LL Bean. The Northface was better, the LL Bean was about the same. |
