Great for keeping dry. We've had it literally in puddles and there was no leakage or wet spots. It has withstood hail storms as well. One problem, noted by another, is that the rain fly sags when it rains. We constantly re-tighten. The vestibules are great and a major bonus during bad weather. Very easy setup. I own a 1997 Kelty Vortex. I purchased it for 139 through Campmor. This tent has a roomy interior but the vestibule shape makes for lots of unusable room. The tent is medium weight at 6 lbs 10 oz and it is watertight. I have used it in multiple rain storms and never gotten wet. It is a little warm in the summer with the fly on. It is a great buy for the money. Customer Service I owned a Kelty Super Tioga and the waist belt broke. I sent the belt to Kelty for a new one and the new one they sent me was defected, so I had to send for another one. It took three weeks for me to get a replacement hipbelt and I got it two weeks before departing on a weekend trip. Similar Products Used: Sierra Design, Eureka |

bought this tent new almost 10 years ago and still love it. the two doors/vestibules make this tent! 2 people with gear fit comfortably inside. and the materials used (at the time i bought it) were of highest quality. after seam sealing, it is virtually storm proof. i spent one night during an oklahoma thunderstorm in the wichita mountains where we got 3" of precip in 5 hours! and i was dry and comfortable, even with the rain coming sideways. the only complaint i can think of would be the large footprint- but i would take the vestibules over the hassle of finding a tent site any day. |

Tent is very easy to set-up, first use required nighttime set-up, completely done in less than 5 minutes. Performance was also great, plenty of room for two plus gear, and no problem with the elements. Terrific value, also bought from Campmor, for about half of the suggessted retail price. |

I have used this tent (99 model) severel times on serious trips and with my 3 kids and found it to be good for both types of camping. Having places to put flashlights and other things that kids seem to loose is great. The 2 vestbules are great to have your kids take their shoes off before entering is handy also. Using the fly as they recomend works good if there is a breeze. Not having a 10 year old climb over you at 2:00a.m., priceless. Similar Products Used: L.L. Beane, Eureka |

The tent is roomy and the two big doors are great. I did not like the fact that condensation on the inside of the fly would drip onto the screens on the end of the tent. The water would then drip through the screen into the tent, right into my ear. The window seams on the fly were not well sealed and leaked. The corners also leaked after a day of heavy rain. Great tent overall. Simple to use, features are well thought through. Vestibule is just big enough to be useable. Having 2 useable doors are a godsend. Customer Service Spoke to customer service to see if the "hard" top vestibule that comes with the Jetstream 2 will work with the Vortex 2. Very helpfull, was informed that Kelty will probably sell the "hard" top as a separate item purchaseable for use with the Vortex 2. Presto! Instant 4 season tent! Awesome deal. To be fully functional, must also use the footprint along with "hardtop" fly. Still can't beat it! Similar Products Used: North Face, Bibler, etc. |

I have a 95 Vortex 2 which has gotten me through the Colorado snow, Utah heat and massive Georgia windstorms. This tent is absolutely the best. It's fairly light and so easy to put up, that I'm the first one to crack a beer and relax by the fire. Similar Products Used: Walrus, Eureka! |

The Kelty V2 is a great tent for the price. It is simple, and functional. The two pole design is more stable in the wind than I had imagined, and the extra tie outs on the fly take care of any wobble or flutter. Two full sized doors allow for easy exit and entry for two adults with a minimal of fuss in the middle of the night if you have had too much tea before bed. It comes with a small overhead shelf, and one pocket at each end. The fly configurations make this tent very versatile, from a full on "dome" to vectorized windscoops. I paid $199.00 Cdn (approx. $135.00 US) in 1997. This 2 person tent was the best value for the money. The 2 doors at the sides is more convenient than 2 doors at each end, especially for middle of the night nature calls. The two vestibules allow each person to stow their boots, pack and wet gear outside their door. The extra width and especially the extra length in this tent make the tent more habitable, especially if it is raining. The extremely fast set-up time (with the pocket ends for the poles and the fastex buckle attachments for the fly) is great for set-ups while it is raining. I've used the tent in heavy and continuous rainstorms and it has never leaked and I have never gotten wet. I have used it in the winter in 20-30 degrees F. below zero in light snow without problems. The tent is extremely well made and great value for the money. Customer Service I have not had any contact with Kelty's customer service. Similar Products Used: none. |
