I used this tent throughout the 99 season with my girlfriend camping in the Great Smokey Mountains. It provided plenty of room for her, myself, and our gear. The two doors and vesitbules provide separate entrances and gear storage for each of us. The tent is a snap to set-up. I can set up mine with rainfly and stakes in less than 4 minutes. Have slept through a few rain storms and stayed dry. Highly recommended.

Well I'm more of a cyclist than a backpacker but anyhow... I just purchased the Kelty V3 to replace my 1994 V2. Since I'm looking for a tent that folds into a short package (Eureka Mountain Pass XT or Zephir XT), I figured that for the long pole-tent (carried by car or backpacked) , I might as well enjoy the extra square meter offered by the V3 over the V2. The newer (1998) model offers two sleeves for ventilation that were missing on the older model. That makes all the difference in cold nights. The 1994 model used to get damp, not this one. The only drawback is the lack of nylon flaps to close the screen doors. So far, comfort is great but since it's a bigger tent with more windows I don't think it's gonna go too far in the cold season. The newer V2 must bare the same improvements and omissions. All in all I prefer the newer, dryer, fresher design. Great tent for the money

I'm trying to figure out why the others were afraid to give this one the Big 5. This is a GREAT tent! I was looking for a three man tent that could actually hold three M-E-N (not three infants). Also, I needed plenty of vestibule space for packs. This one not only has two doors but a vestibule on both sides. For two people, this is a plus because you aren't stepping over your partner (or spouse) when you have to make that midnight trip to the little boy's (or girl's) room. I got mine through the MountainZone.com auction. It was shipped to me (brand new 1999 model) with them picking up the tab for shipping costs. The only thing I would like better would be for the tent to be a little lighter, but what's a couple ounces between friends.(smile)

Great little tent. Only 2 poles and snap on fly. It'll make everyone jealous when they see you set-up in under 2 minutes. Had some problems with unzipping the fly in the morning since you have to deal with all the dew on the fly. Minor annoyance considering how long I used this tent (probably spent 2-3 months in it) Bought it for 150 CAD in Toronto...
