A great tent for the money-perfect for the backpacking enthusiast. However, there are a couple design flaws to be aware of: there are two dead spots when the fly is tied taut-causing a build up of snow/rain-which compromises stability if continually exposed to such elements and the rear vestibule is to small for anything more than one 3500cu pack. As a result, this tent is questionable for rugged/extreme backpacking/mountaineering.

I used this this tent this summer for six weeks in Wyoming and Montana and for two weeks this winter in Texas. I experienced weather that was extremely hot, extremely wet, and extremely cold at different times. It kept me dry at all times and when it got hot I could remove the fly and ventilation improved alot. The two vestibules came in extremely handy as I could keep a pack in one and still have entry to both ends. I found that it took a fair amount of time to put up and take down however it was extremely well built and when some of my friends tents were blowing away I didn't mind the amount of time it took me to set it up. I had three problems with it as it came. First it lacked ceiling pockets, which I remedied by buying one built for another brand and modifying it. Second it did not come with a groundpad and none sould be bought specifically for it. Last, it is sold as a two person tent, but I'm six foot tall and have big shoulders and fitting two people in it is not exactly comfortable but, it can be done. Overall I've been extremely happy with the performance and build quality.

I've tried this tent at a weekend campout in January. It was just above freezing-ya know when its really sticky snow. Well it wasn't hard to set up but it was cold because i forgot my gloves at home. The snow melted the next day and with a few shakes the water droplets were all gone. I love waterproofing. I'd get anything from LL. They have nearly everything you could want. I also got my bike there too.

This tent has lived up to all of my expectations. I use it in all of the 4 seasons and would recommend it to anyone. For the weight and dependability it is clearly the right tent for me.

Customer Service

I have purchased two tents from "LL Bean", both of which had plenty of good use left, only to upgrade. I am very happy with all of LL Beans quality!
