This is my third and favorite shelter. I have used this camped on a rock in the middle of Georgian Bay in high winds, with nary a flap out of it. This thing is bomb proof. The only complaint would be that it should have additional guy points on the largest area's of the fly (1997 made in US version).

I''ve had the pleasure of owning my Moss tent for about two years, and all I can say is that it''s my favourite in regards to the other five tents I own. The model I own has the clips as opposed to the sleeves, which i found a bit difficult for first time set-up. But once you get the hang of it,set-up is a breeze. Some of the great features of the tent include the spacious ammount of room for two and the excellent ventilation provided by the well thought out mesh windows which are located at the front/back and ceilings. I also found the gearloft with the ingenious head lamp hole excellent for late night reading. Being a 4 season tent it does weigh considerably more than others, but the bomb proof construction makes up for it in inclement weather.I had no problem with condensation when i brought the tent up to Whistler (B.C.) for early winter camping. It shed snow and rain with apolmb! Also a nice feature is the zip up rain/privacy windows. The vestibule with the added pole provides great space for your gear or pet. I would highly recommend this tent to anyone looking for bomb proof construction and numerous convenient extras!

This is in response to the last review. I too am a HUGE Moss fan and I too own a ''99 American made Titan along with a ''98 Helix and a ''01 Thunderdome. While I agree that I prefer the Dupont materials I must disagree that the American made tents were superior in craftsmanship to the Chinese made tents. The Titan I have is fine but working in a large outdoor retail store I have seen many American made Moss tents come in with quality problems. I have yet to see a China made one with anything wrong. Also, the bar tacks in the new tents are much tighter and more substantial than the American made tents. And the new tents use a polyester rainfly which is stronger and more resistant to UV damage an and it doesn''t streatch like nylon when it gets wet. After one year of making half their tents overseas (their clip versions) and half in Seattle, Moss found that it was much easier to work with the Chinese manufacturers than the American ones and were getting better quality all the while saving a bunch of money (the new Titan has more features and is $100 less than the ''99 model). So now all Moss tents are made in China, even the sleeve models. This decision had nothing to do with the merger with Walrus (which happened years before). Don''t get me wrong, I would prefer American made to Chinese, but if the quality is better and the exchange rate favors us, than it just make good business sense. Recently, Cascade Designs bought Edgeworks (MSR, Moss, Walrus, and Armadillo) from REI. So all of the best Moss and Walrus designers teamed up and are making tents under the MSR label (check out www.msrcorp.com. So the Moss name is dead. :-( I''m not sure if they will still be made in China but I''m guessing (hoping) they will. What will remain are the finest designed tents in the world.

US Made 2000 Model This tent was everythin i hoped it to be. Finest materials and excelent construction that only comes with american made quality (at least when it comes to outdoor gear). It has performed as expected keepong me dry in the rain, cool in the summer heat (thanks to the large zipper windows) and secure when the wipping winter winds blow. It may not have the gimmics that many newer designs have, such as clear windows but Moss built its reputation on a quality product, not eye candy. Don''t let anyone tell you otherwise but pole sleaves a vastly superior to clips. Threading the poles is very easy on both my Mosses (much easier than anyclip models i''ve used from siera designs and others) and they better distribute the tension of the poles than the handful of points that clips use (i''ve had the clips ripout of an otherwise well made seirra designs). When i got my first Moss tent (1999 starlet) the first thing that i noticed was the quality of the materials (i remember not too long ago when most tents were made of such stout stuff). Yes moss tents may be heavier but you can tell that it is ment to last for several decades not a handfull of seasons. Same can be said of my Titan. However, i recently purchased a heptawing that was one of the newer ones after the buyout by that god awful parent company of Walrus. What a cheap piece of manure this thing is when compared to the old us made version. el cheapo materials and a nasty color that does not even come close to matching the traditional moss beige of old and no more easton poles. and they have the nerve to charge the same retail price as the far superior old US version (Corp. Rat Bums!!). Moss used to have the motta "because you can''''t afford cheap stuff" but now it should be "we can only make cheap stuff." if you can still find and old us made moss product, by it! but don''''t expect the same from the new foreign made forgeries they are producing now. They are now some of the worst made tents on the market. The value ratings i gave are for us made models. Newer moss products get barly a star in either catagory.

This tent is awesome. I would highly advise anyone looking for a tent to get this one. It is expensive but well worth the money. The first night i slept in it i was attacked by a deer at 3:30 in the morning. The deer rammed my tent and flexed it down waking me from my sleep. I inspected the tent and the only sigh of the attack was the dew was all gone from where her body hit. I think this is the best designed tent. My friend has the Mt. Hardware skyview 3 (another great tent) and even he addmits that this is the best tent to have. If you are thinking about other tents i will tell you, i have looked and inspected almost all of them and this is the best tent with all the features one would want.

This tent has been nothing short of amazing! I've used it for three years now from Alaska to Norther California. I spend 40% of my camping in the winter and it has performed flawlessly - Even after being crushed by a bear once. That left two very small holes in the upper canvas but the Moss patches have been working great. The poles survived just fine. No, I was not in the tent (surveyed the damage when I returned to camp).

Improvements - Could be a little lighter, that would be nice.

I love this tent! I wanted a three, possibly four season tent and I got it with the Moss Titan. It will hold up in a downpour and comfortable in a light snow. A little breezy with the mesh front, but it's a super cozy tent. This tent is so tight that you don't get any chatter in high winds. I have had it in 30 - 40 mph wind and it hardly moves. My Moss has sleeves and I think it really makes a difference in a tighter tent. (Clips make me nervous...)

Ok... you probably are thinking... what DON'T I like about this tent. Only one negative.... It's heavy. Keep in mind that Moss builds their tents for durability. Weight seems to be an after thought! I'm looking for a light tent to solo in, but the Titan is no problem if you can split the weight between a couple of hikers.

My two cents for Moss: "Lighten Up!"

This tent is absolutely amazing. I went camping in a secluded part of New Mexico called Santa Clara Canyon. The night we got there a terrible rain storm rolled in. We were camping towards the end of winter. Me and my friends. The thunderstorm started off with pelting rain, which lasted for a good 40 minutes, streams of water running under the tent. Since its a canyon, there were some heavy winds which blew over some of out outdoor tables and chairs. Then it begain hailing... the chunks of hail were easily the size of store-bought strawberries. Not a single drop came in, not a single shred of damage done to this admirable tent. It did freeze that night and the condensation really only collected in the vestibule, no problems inside the tent itself. So anyone that thinks this tent can't stand up to severe weather is mistaken. I friend of mine in the same storm was using a Kelty and water was leaking in through the seams, the condensatiion was horrible, and a slight tear formed in the rainfly after the hail.

Got the new Titan GT with thr grip technology clip version. Took it to Joshua Tree National Park this past weekend. Tent setup is a snap. We had high winds at Joshua Tree. This tent is extremely stable in high wings and did not budge an inch when staked down and the rainfly is attached properly and guyed out.
Only problem I see is the vestibule flapped a bit as teh wind got underneath and tried to move it.. Also the tent seemed to have a slight draft eventhough it was zipped up tight.

I would highly recommend this tent for someone who is out doing 4 season camping.

I tried out a North Face Perigrine and it was great and roomy, but too cold for 4 season camping... I also had a Walrus Warp 2XV and it was nice and insulated and warm, but there was a space problem for the two of us and the vestibule was not configured right due to a design flaw...

I have the '99 model which is the sleeve model. The new clip model is really nice and $100 less with so many cool features that I'm very tempted. But I think I will stick with this one for a while cause the materials and made in the USA construction is slightly superior and who knows it may be a collectors item someday.

Anyway, the Titan is an awesome tent. When properly staked out, this tent is as solid as any I've seen. Plus the wind shedding profile and continuous sleeves make for a quiet tent even in high winds. I've had this tent in the mountains of NH in January, on the Cape in summer, and I can say with confidence that this tent is designed for any type of weather. When canoe camping on the Delaware in May the Titan kept us dry all night during a severe thunderstorm. When I woke up, I noticed that the floor felt like a waterbed. There was water under the tent and not a drop came in! Until I opened the door. That is when I noticed that the river rose 3.5 feet over night and surrounded us with 8 inches of water!! The zipper held tight but after opening it our bags got soaked. I was more worried about our dry bags outside anyway. Luckily nothing floated away. I love the shape of the Titan. The way it angles away at the sides allows for 2 people to sit up and dress with plenty of stretch out room. The vestibule is large enough to shed rain gear in before entering the tent interior. And the side entry door is nice so you don’t have to crawl over your stuff for those late night duty calls. It’s a palace for 2 but can fit 3. I've even had 4 in there while waiting out a storm. It is a bit heavy but its not wasted. What you get in return is an over designed tent with plenty of usable space. Another thing you buy with a Moss is piece of mind. The attention to detail is amazing! There are over 100 bar tacks on a typical Moss tent.

You can look all you want but you will not find a better-constructed, better-designed, more durable, stronger tent for all conditions backpacking

I bought this tent at REI. Their salespeople are top notch and set up several tents that I was considering side by side and I never felt pressured. REI's customer service is also top notch. I know if I have anything go wrong with anything I buy there they will take care of me. The 10% dividend is nice too.
