A solid tent and a great value for the money. This tent is on the light side for 2-person tents. It's _so_ easy to set up--just a couple of minutes, start to finish. I've had the same sagging rainfly problems others have described. Not that much actual moisture got in the tent, though--it was just worrisome. Stitching is solid, as is fabric and pole quality. I'm a happy camper!

This tent is a good value. It is pretty inexpensive, easy to set up, and quite durable. I've had mine for a couple of years and have used it quite a bit. It keeps the water out fairly well, but has some problems with condensation. The fly sags against the tent walls in heavy rain. However, this thing has survived some storms (60mph winds, rain, and 2ft wet snow in one outing alone!) that it had no responsibility to! It is as bullet proof as any three season tent in the price range as I have seen. I've used this tent hard, maybe even abused it a little, and it still is in great shape. Very good for the 3 season backpacker on a budget.

Customer Service

REI is great-easy to use internet ordering, and the store in Seattle is full of helpful and knowledgeable employees waiting to help.

This is a great 3 season tent for the money. It sets up easily in minutes and the fly is goes on with little effort. I stayed dry during two evenings of steady rain and has some flex in the wind, but an overall great value.

It's hard to go wrong with this 3-season tent. Have been using it for over three years and it's kept us dry, even in 12 hours of straight rain; unlike another comment i saw, this tent does have a vestibule. Nothing has torn and no seams leak.

I have had an REI half dome for over 10 years. It is home-away-from-home on backpacking trips, biking tours and orienteering meets. My husband and I have used it spring, summer and fall, rain or shine, and it is holding up well. I thought the floor space, height and weight were very good for this price, and still do. I'd buy another if I had to replace it today.

Positives: Good value. Easy to set up. Quality construction. Handy side pockets inside for small items. Negatives: vestibule could be larger.

I've owned this tent for almost ten years and it has survived any type of weather I've thrown at it. Even though it is meant to be a three season tent, it has stood up to the wind and snow of winter camping on the balds in the NC/VA mountains. For the money, this tent has been extremely durable and watertight (with annual seam-sealing). The main shortcoming of this tent is that even with all four guy-lines rigged the sidewalls really catch the wind, which makes any fourth season outing an exciting experience, not always for the right reasons. Overall though, for just over $100 you get a durable, fairly light tent with aluminum poles that will hold up to some pretty harsh weather.

Took the girlfriend to Kings Canyon Nation Park for 3 days of Car Camping. It was early summer, so it was still fairly cool, but I took this basic tent, rather than my nice four season. Unfortunitely, it rained the entire time and I thought we were doomed. However, this little tent held up quite well considering the weather. By the second night the seams around the bottom were showing signs of leakage and the inside condensation was growing by leaps and bounds. But we survived, managed to stay relatively warm and dry. Generally, I would not recommend this tent for anything beyond nice summer months, but in a pinch it can do the job.

Customer Service

Never really had to call upon them for help.

great tent! it does fairly well in wind, but not too well if it's directly against the side. the venting is excellent as well. the extra head room is nice compared to those little tube tents. it sets up very fast.

Customer Service

I have had my Half Dome for two years now and it has served me great. It has tons of head room, enough room for two people, and a decent sized vestible. It will do okay in the wind as long as you guy line it out. I have had no leakage problems once I seamed sealed the fly. I heard the '99 model has the fly factory seam taped. I would recommend this tent to any of my friends.
