This is the tent I have brought it everwhere with me. Brought one weekend to the Ozarks and it rained both days nothing but rain and sure enough not a drop of water. Brought it to Wyoming on a two week long trip in the mountains and we exlperienced 75 M.P.H winds at night and sure enough she didn't have scratch. Best tent ever owned.

My tent is the 1999 model, which includes taped seams and the "faastpack" system, which allows you to use just the rainfly and footprint for a lighter shelter. I have not done this, and probably won't. My only problem with the system is that it increases the weight of the footprint, and therefore the weight of the whole tent- making it well over 5 lbs. Otherwise, this is a well constructed tent of what seem to be quality materials. Obviously I haven't been able to use it long enough to assess the longetivity, but am impressed thus far. Like others have said, this tent is a two-person tent for people who are close friends. It is tight for two adult males. Because of the angle of the walls, you end up moving toward the center of the tent to keep from making contact with the walls. For one person and gear it would be fine. Overall, this is a good quallity, fairly lightweight tent for three season backpacking. There are tradeoffs, but I feel it offers a good combination between price, weight, and utility.

This has been a great tent for three-season backpacking. Very light weight and compacts smaller than my sleeping bag (not including poles which I pack separately). As it leaves a small footprint on the ground, you can pretty much find any place for this tent. When staked down well, it holds up great in wind and rain storms. The only problem with my tent ('98) is that rain will drip through the sewn in SD emblem on the vestibule if not completely covered in seam sealant. Overall an excellent tent at an excellent price.

A very good lightweight tent that will keep you dry .Easy to set up even on rock. Has plenty of room inside for 1 person and your gear but very crowded for 2 unless you a both small people. If I use a tent this is what I take.I use a seperate bag for the poles and it makes it easier to pack. Also leaves room for the ground pad in the bag.

This is a great little tent. I had been looking at some one man tents then realized that the Flashlight has a lot more space for only a little more weight.

Used it this summer on a solo trip in Alaska and it performed well in some very blustery weather. I have only used it as a solo tent and it might be cozy for two. It's a good choice if you want more room than a one man, glorified bivy bag.

Easy to pitch, good head room at the peak.

I got this tent about 7 months ago to use on hiking and Bike trips. I have taken it to alaska, The north shore in MN and The Smokies. The pros are its light and small. It dosen't add much to your pack and you can shove it anywhere. The bad part is when it rains. You have to make sure that the Rain fly is tight and put on correctly. I found that if the rain fly touches the tent, your getting water and no one wants water. Its an nice tent just take some time to learn how to set up for bad weather. Its great for the summer!!

Being mostly a solo backpacker, I wanted something lightweight, stable, enough room to move around in and mostly, something that didn't have the word "bivy" in it. I've used this Sierra Design Clip Flashlight 2 for 3 years and can find no reason on God's green earth why I would look for anything to replace it. It's not free standing, but I knew that before I bought it and so far that's not been a problem, but consider that point before you buy one. At 4 1/2 lbs. it's been nothing but a pleasure to crawl into at the end of a long day

Customer Service

The Sierra Design Co. has been top-notch to deal with. I also have a 1986 model Stretch Dome in which the fly had basically no vestibule. So I called Sierra Design to find out if a fly with a vestibule from a later year Stretch Dome would fit. "Yes" they said, and expecting to be charged for it. When it arrived at my house it was billed as warranty replacement-"no charge". Not only is it a quality product but customer service couldn't be better.

Great tent but NOT freestanding...tough down in the Grand Canyon to find a place to put in stakes...and you'd better use titanium or they'll bend;nice weight for backpacking and have used it on summer "monsoon" treks and it is watertight and I love the clips...but I prefer FS tents

I have used this tent for weekends and week long treks in the High Sierra.

It has excellent ventilation all the way around which is great. I like the full rain fly that has kept me dry in thunderstorm downpours with driving rain. It has stood up to fairly high winds (30-40 mph). It is easy to set up and extremely lightweight. I am 6'1" and 200 lbs so I consider it a one person tent. I would prefer a slightly larger vestibule. It is not free standing but have never had a problem staking it down. I would prefer a larger size for camping with my son.

I have a Sierra Desigh dome tent that is about 25 years old that is still great and I use it when camping with more than one person.

This tent is great if you don't mind a very cozy fit. It is light weight, very well ventilated (which I think is a major plus if you are going to be out there for a while) I am planning to take this on the AT in may and can't wait to try it out for a couple months of intensive use. I am also glad that my companion is a close friend. The 32 sq. ft. isn't really enough if you are traveling with a stranger.

I have a SD omegaCD and have used a Marmot Nutshell(I think that is what it is called) I prefer this tent to the marmot, but the omegaCD is much rommier
