As with all sierra designs tents this one is superbly constructed and very functional. It is extremely water proof as I live in a very damp climate, northern WV. I recently took it on a trip on which it rained moderately much of the time and when it wasn't raining the humidity was about 97%. The tent kept us dry and comfy (not to suffy and good venilation). It is full of inovative features and lots of well planned design. It is the perfect size for 2 plus gear and is easy to setup. Overall it is a great tent.

This is an excellent tent. Designed very well with lots of useable space inside. Last trip it stood up very well in 50+ mph winds, without being guyed out. This tent is also very easy to set up with just one person, takes about 3 minutes. Ventilation is excellent with the convertible door and top section. Also a couple of cool features, you can open the vent in the fly from inside the tent thanks to the zipper in the top mesh, and windows in the fly allow you see outside in bad weather. My only complaint is that the door design needs to be changed so it's not on the ground when opened, and it needs to come with better stakes. I bent mine the first trip, went and bought Moss ground hog stakes and solved that problem. All in all a supberb tent from a great company that will stand behind their work. Probably the best all around tent I've ever owned.

Customer Service

E-mailed them a couple of questions and they answered back the next day. Only heard good things about SD customer service.

I got this tent on sale at sierra trading post for $279. This is absolutely the best tent I've ever owned. It can withstand the worst of wind and rain. The ventilation is great as the door and top can be zipped open to let a breeze through, although it doesn't rovide much privacy this way. Then when the weather gets bad, zip it shut and you'll stay dry and warm. This is also very easy to set up. Definitely a great purchase.

I think this tent is awesome and can withstand the worst of winds. I camped out on top of a mouain and in the middle of the night a huge snowstorm came in and the tent withstood every gust which almsot knock me over when I went for a midnight pee.

This tent is the ultimate canoeing tent. It may be too heavy for backpacking but the features are worth the weight. It is very roomy for 2 large people and the ventilation is fantastic. The fly has a built in plastic window which is a great idea. The roof of the tent has two ceilings. The first can be retracted leaving a mesh ceiling with, get this, a zipper through the outer ceiling to adjust the fly. The tie down loops are now made of a non wicking material which is a big improvement over previous SD tents. SD claims that this tent has two modes, a 3 season and 4 season mode. The 3 season mode is achieved by removing part of one of the poles and thus saving a few ounces. For a wilderness canoe tripper, a few ounces (or really pounds) doesn't matter that much. This tent packs up almost as small as the SD Orion and weighs less than the stretch prelude.
