A good solid tent, have camped in in many nights in the winter around Mt. Washington and it has held up to extreamly high winds and lots of snow. I had it up in the Tetons one summer and it held up great to a violent thunderstorm. All the other tents on the lower saddle where flatened by morning. While climbing the Grand a marmot chewed a hole in the netting but he was so impressed with the tent that he did not leave marmot poop on my sleeping bag. Some others where not that fortunate. Customer Service I broke a pole and ripped the fly trying to free the tent from heavy snow accumulation. The company made the repairs quickly and for very little money. Very solid tent. Lots of guy points and many clips and attachments for the fly and body to the poles. I haven't tried the internal guys but I tink for most folks they would be massive overkill. Front and back doors are nice. The vestibule is a little short but fits two packs OK. sleeps two well, three in a pinch. |

Simple enough to pitch once you get the hang of it - no sleeves to tear, light enough for the money, bombproof, good interior space, smallish vestibule, can handle serious snow loads, Easton poles, breathes/vents well...never leaks! Customer Service no problems Similar Products Used: TNF Nebula, EMS Single-wall, SD Meteor Light |

Great tent in bad weather, but rather poor ventilation. Large size for two people means room for gear in tent and small vestibule. Rock solid construction withstands high winds. Full rain fly totally protects in the rain, although be sure to tie out the rear door with a stake to keep the fly off of the main body. Similar Products Used: North Face, Marmot |

This is an excellent tent for anyone who values theur comfort. Have had this tent up and down the east coast in snow, rain, wind...etc. Plenty of room for 2 people and very easy to set up. The weight is nice if you value your legs for the long hall and packs easily. The price is right too. One draw back is that in the middle of a southern rain heat and humidity....it can feel like an oven with the rain fly on. Not much you can do about that though! Customer Service None yet!!!!! You can't stop this tent. Lightweight, easy to set up, weatherproof. Rain, snow and wind only tease it. I tend to use it at elevation (above 10,000) so the toughness is a must. Also, the second time I set it up was in the dark and was relatively easy with a mini-flashlight in my mouth. Clip style poles save weight and time over sleeve style. The girlfriend, myself, and the dog fit comfortably in the tent even with one pack. Vestibule is small but saves weight and keeps the shape compact to withstand high winds. Definately needs to have the mesh doors exposed to relieve condensation. This tent would work best for the advanced backcountry camper. It is ready for almost any weather, sets up quickly, and is light enough to haul around for a week. It weighs less than almost all of the competition and the price is affordable for those who will use it often. On sale it's a steal. Customer Service Just called about details on tent statistics before I bought it. On sale with no buyer's manual. SD answered everything quickly with no confusing tech talk. This tent is a great backpacking tent for many reasons. It is very light, especially when backpacking with a friend. Rock solid construction--definitely bomb proof. Great ventilation on breezy days. The downsides of the Tiros Assault include a tiny vestibule on one door, and a non-existant vestibule on the other(it is hard to keep the rain fly away from the tent body at the back door). Also, the yellow panels on the rain fly attract millions of mosquitos when camping below 10,000 feet in the sierras. Another thing that I don't like about this tent is that when camping at 13,000 ft.+, the sun can beat the hell out of you. The white tent canopy is great for lighting on cloudy days, but when on a bare peak in the sun you wish you had a darker canopy to give better shade. Overall, great backpacking tent--especially if you can get it on sale. Customer Service Have not needed to use Sierra Designs customer service--they make quality gear.
