This tent is a serious performer. i recently took this tent on my first ascent of Granite Peak. We camped on a very small rock ledge and throughout the night, during a rough mountain storm, the tent held up throughout the night. it is an excellent performer. the only drawback of this tent is it's weight, but i will cary the extra 3 lbs. to know that my shelter will protect me. A great product.

Bottom line: When it's all caving in and you need a place to sit it out, this is the tent to have. Yes, there are lighter ones out there. But, as Dana Designs and Bibler state and I have watched first hand; the lighter tents flex and rattle too much in high winds and are designed to collapse to dump snow and pop up again. I don't want my tent collapsing on me in the middle of the night. I can't say enough good things about my Mountain.

Got this tent mainly because it was on sale. Overall I'm quite pleased with its performance. Holds up in wind nicely, keeps the weather out. But there is one thing about this tent that bugs me, the weight. I think the next tent I'm going to get is going to be single wall, preferabbly a Bibler. Even though this tent is strong, I just can't justify the weight compared to a single wall which isnt as strong but strong enough for my purposes. As stated before get the ground cloth, it will save your floor from stuff like twigs and stuff.

This tent is the best. It withstood a ton of snow in the mountains of Tibet. It is a bit heavy but it is worth every bit of it. I would pay the price again to have this tent. I will last a lifetime. I will give another review in a couple of months after I go back to Tibet and camp for 2 months in this tent.

I was looking for a 4 season tent for a while and I narrowed down my options to the Mountain 25 and Trango 2.

My brother wanted to buy me a gift for my birthday and he asked me which tent I wanted.

I decided to go with the Mountain 25 because it was available at the store where my brother bought it and the Trango 2 was not in stock.

I used the tent in Skaftafell National park in Iceland for the first time. It was raining heavily and very cold (this camping trip was in early September). In the night, the wind picked up too and if you have been to Iceland, you know how windy it can get. I was amazed at the performance of the tent. I guyed it out so it was bombproof in the wind. It also didn't leak (remember to seam seal it first with the included seam sealer). I am very glad with this purchase. I plan on taking it winter camping to Manning Provincial Park in BC this winter.

Thanks to my brother who gave me this tent as a gift for my 27th birthday

Strong, but heavy. Small interior space for its weight, fly is prone to flapping in wind because it can not be fully tightened to body. Holds up well over time, mine is now three years old. Overall quality is very good. Circular doors make ingress/egress somewhat difficult but are great at creating at tight tent body.

Customer Service

No problems.

I bought this tent for $50 brand new at a rei b93. It was returned because there was a 1 inch slit on the outer stuff sack and the knot on one of the pole ends was too big. This tent is going to ranier to everest and all between. I reknotted the cord and sewed the bag and that was all. I have essentailly a flawless brand new tent that was repaired in five minutes. I would even call it repair, because it was so darn easy. Love the tent

This marvelous thing is my bomb shelter wherever I may land. The places I set up shop tend to be at altitude (12,500+ ft.)and with unfavorable conditions (just lucky I guess)The pole in sleeve design IS easier to set up in ugly conditions and makes for a VERY stable home without much dawdling. ALWAYS guy out any tent (if possible) in foul weather but chances are best in THIS tent if the extra stability is not available. Mine is now 3 years old and used probably 25 times without any complanit what so ever. Like any solid 4 season tent, it gets a bit frosty in the winter but that's pretty tough to avoid in ANY tent. The pockets around the entire base of the inside make for marvelous storage and keeping track of the million things one likes to have on hand. The gear loft will cramp you if you try to sit up inside so balance that option with that of your comfort. I am confident that any avid outdoors person will appreciate the performance of this tent. It costs a lot and dammit, IT'S WORTH IT!!!!

TNF did process a return of their Mtn. Light Jacket for me a couple of years ago. The gore-Tex had delaminated and caused the garment to leak. Although it took about 6.5 weeks, they gave me store credit to to cover the cost of a brand new one. I tossed in another $30 and moved up to the Mountain Jacket. Lifetime Warantee means just that although it seems like a lifetime before your gear gets back to you.

I have slept in too many tents to list here though none stick in my mind as being comparable or worthy of individual attention.

As a guide in New England, some of the worst weather in the world has found me, Mt. Washington, NH. to be exact. When I was in the market for a new tent, I tried them all. My final two were the Mountain Hardwear Trango 2 and the North Face Mountain. To make a long story short, I chose the NF Mtn. My reasons are these
1. The Trango, in high winds, does not set up properly. Since all of the poles have to be clipped in rather than slipped into sleeves like with the MTN. It tends to get set up crooked in wind or at night when visibility is slim to none.
2.Once the Trango has been set up, it is bomb proof like mostly everything made by Hardwear. The only problem I found was the set up and if you have ever been in winds stronger than 55mph you can relate.
3.Finaly, The Mtn. tent is the only TNF product that I own and no matter what mother nature has thrown at me, this tent has proved itself on more than 50 occasions. This is truly the one product from TNF that has passed my tests. Enjoy...

P.S. Definitely purchase the FOOTPRINT it will save your floor.

Lifetime Warranty is definitely key.
