VauDe Sports Mark II Tents

VauDe Sports Mark II Tents

DESCRIPTION

We could call it our 4-season mountaineering tent with room for 3, because that's what it is. But, that wouldn't adequately convey the warm, secure feeling you get when you crawl out of a howling gale into the quiet, friendly interior of your steadfast MARK II.

I bought this Tent two years ago for a backpacking trip to northern finland. We had lots of rainy days there and were very pleased of the fast pitching pole system. It´s really a pleasure to build it up in heavy rain, becaus the inner tent stays dry.
I think it´s perfect for two people, three would be too much for my taste.
The only problem I had was with strong wind, I forgot to 'guy' the poles and they finally broke.
I got it as a hot offer for about 200 $, I would´nt have paid the original price of 300 $ for this tent.

A great allrounder tent. As part of a club it's taken it's fair share of abuse. Comfortable for three people with a decent amount of storage space in both porches. In heavy winds it would definitely be an idea to guy out the poles which I've discovered to our detriment in one blustery weekend, which resulted in a new set of poles. The only weak link we've found is the hooks at either end which connect to the poles. Once these are weakened they won't clip to the pole again, and they're not easily fixed.

Customer Service

We had to replace the poles and within about two weeks, we had a replacement set. One of the sections shattered on its first use, however Vaude replaced the set within two weeks.

A great Tent. This is the fastest pitching Tent ever. The external pole system works well. It will sleep 2 easily and 3 comfortable. There is a slightly longer version available as well. In very strong winds you may have to 'guy' the poles but I've never bothered,(I suffered a bent pole because of this lack of foresight).
Like most 'light' Tents the ground sheet is the first to suffer from wear, so always use a groundsheet protector.

I like it so much I bought another one to stick my Kids in. This is the MK III,same design but twisted so you sleep along side the doors. I prefer the MKII where you sleep head to the Door.

They are slightly over-priced though, considering they appear to made China and not Germany.
