I have had My Hurricane hole for about two years and I love it, The configuration options are the best feature weather you are winter, summer, or car camping or are making a summit attempt. The ease of setup and the option to use the fly for a snow shelter roof has come in handy a time or two. I am pleased to say that the tent will holt a good foot of wet snow without colapse or dammage to the poles and with only three gui lines out. as for room, I am 6'4" and have had two other people, each 6'+ in the inner tent comfortably.
while weight is an issue I have never had to pack all of the options allong for any trip so it can be paired down to a managable level.

Customer Service

When I resieved my tent the summer tent had a tear in one of the screens. A simple phone call to REI, who then called Walrus fixed he prob.

Even tho I got a great deal (close out) I found the tent difficult to set up, small and heavy. I bought the tent because of the exoskeleton design. While you can set up the outer and then get inside and set up the inner, it is extremely difficult especially if you're 6'4" like me. For a 4 season tent, I want something I can set up quickly, this wasn't it.

I returned the tent and am still looking.

This tent was a great surprise to me. I only payed $160 for it and I knew this was a huge deal for any 4 season tent. I trust the Walrus name and decided to go with it. It is a great tent. I used the north face oval intention before this. Although the hurricane hole doesn't have nearly the space of the intention, it is easily comparable to it. I have used it in downpouring rain and it didn't leak a bit. It is also quite warm. I have used it along the Appalachian trail and found that even in 0 degree weather this tent stays pretty warm (when using the outer and inner tent together). It may be a bit heavy, but not bad for a 4 season tent. Overall, this tent is a great value compared to all tents on the market today.

Customer Service

I haven't had a problem with the tent, so I have yet to experience calling the manufacturer.

This tent can be a bit heavy if you take the outer, inner, footprint, etc. The key, though, especially for winter campouts, is to simply take the outer shell and the footprint, which velcros in place to the shell in a way that makes it a wall to wall floor. That configuration weighs along the lines of 6 lbs., and can easily sleep three comfortably with gear inside the tent. I have used it solo in that configuration and was swimming in room ("Nice airplane hanger you have there, mister").

Everything you have read about being able to set up the inner tents in bad weather from inside after setting up the shell is true, and a great idea. It is also nice that if you are using just the shell and footprint, you can roll back the footprint near the door of one vestibule and cook without worrying about melting the tent floor, spilling anything on the tent floor, etc.

I find the inners to be a bit cramped for my height, 6'1", but then, since the inners reduce the tent to a two-man capacity, I simply take my Walrus Warp/2 instead, which is roomier for two. That shows the real point, however - I loved my Warp/2 enough after three years of hard service to buy another Walrus product, and got a great deal via the Web to boot. My "Walri" are both great tents, and the prices are hard to beat.

Customer Service

I had to replace a hub on the Warp/2 a while back - sent free from Walrus, no questions. I have also dealt with their customer service via email while exploring various options (such as replacing my Warp/2 fly with a 2+2 fly), and find them very friendly and helpful.

This tent was a bit heavy. If you include the outer tent, inner tent, footprint, and all the guylines, it felt like 10lbs. The set up was easy to understand but a little harder to come by. The exoskeleton idea is great though. The main thing was that this tent kept three 6 ft guys warm in 20 degree temps with 40mph winds on top of a 10,800ft mountain where it snowed and stormed all night dropping over a foot of snow after a good dowsing of rain. The tent held up nicely. The lack of ventilation was a problem but can be easily overlooked considering the situation. Teardown was easy and quick. All the materials were top notch. If I had a choice of other tents, looking back, I might have gone with a Moss or Garuda. But I got this tent for $200 so there is little to complain about. It did the job and it did it well, especially in harsh winter conditions.

Customer Service

Walrus is inline with Moss and Armadillo. If you know Moss and trust them, then you can bet that Walrus will live up to your expectations.
