It helped me out one day on my motorcycle. I was stuck with my a/f screw that fell out and when it fell out the spring and o-ring was lost. I was stuck for about 15 minutes when I noticed that I had my Leatherman with me so I did the Mcgiver thing and baught a Bic pen from the a store being stuck in the parking lot and removed the spring from the pen and cut it to length put it on the s/f screw and installed the screw and fired my bike up and rode home. I never leave the house without it.

I purchased my Leatherman Wave about a year ago from a Wal-Mart store in Cameron, Missouri. I really like it. I carry it with me all the time, even to church. I use it a lot. It is a really tough little tool.

I carried Swiss Army Knives in the past but the Wave has them beat a mile.

I made one change on my Wave that made it even better. I ground the serrated knife tip down slightly so that it is straight across the end of the blade, then I sharpened the ground down tip razor sharp. This made the serraited blade into a double use blade; it is now a serrated blade and a little chisel that I use for carving wood and bone.

The metal used in the Wave is a good strong stainless steel. I keep my knife blade sharp enough to shave with and have actually shaved with it.

The only slight fault that I can find with the wave is that I wish they had made the scissors a little larger, but it is ok the way it is, just a little small.

The little saw blade works great too. A young friend of mine used it to cut down a tree about as big around as a grapefruit. He sawed right through it like butter. When he told me what he wanted to borrow my wave for, I laughed at him and didn't think he could do it with that small of a saw blade, but he got the last laugh when the tree fell.

The Wave is not only a great little combo tool but it is darn good looking too. The high quality polished stainless steel makes it a real looker.

I my Leatherman Wave so much I have purchased another one to give to my son for Christmas. He is a Marine Captain who was crippled in the line of duty overseas.
He has another brand of combo tool but has always wanted a Leatherman. He says almost all the marines carry a Leatherman where ever they go.k They buy them for themselves. He says Marines swear by them.

From my own experience, I would highly recommend a Leatherman Wave to anyone. It is a great all around tool to carry with you at all times and it is a great survival tool too. Give me a leatherman Wave, put me out in the woods, and I will survive.

I bought the Leatherman Kick, which is like the wave bu no locks.
Nice tool, but not for daily use. I tried to cut my bike-spoke. The Leatherman since then has his needles bent and then cutter has big burrs.

I have had a Victorinox Swisschamp SAK for many years until stolen. I loved this thing. Only drawback was that nothing locked and I hurt myself a few times using Phillips screwdriver closing on me. I also had an original Leatherman Supertool. I then decided to buy a Wave II for Xmas when they came out in SA. What a beaut!!! Every tool locks and unlocks simply and effectively. I have used it around the house several times and found it to be very user-friendly. A great improvement over the previous Wave model with locking mechanisms and larger blades, plier cutters etc. Very good-looking and very good value for money too. Compact and strong. Nice leather sheath provided.

The leatherman wave is the most modern and usefull tool on the market today! It is very similar to the Swiss army version, but i compared them and the Swiss army is made cheaper and less thought put into design. The wave has 4 huge tools (blade, serated blade, saw and diamond file) that open without the tool needed to open, and they lock in place too, and you can open them one handed too! Its all metal, and its really well made. It has all the possible tools you need, except the ruler( who nees persision in the outdoors anyways) . It may be a little pricy, but its worth it even for full price! Lifetime warranty on it! no need to worry!

In my opinion this is the best multi-tool. For over 7 years I carried one of the original Gerber multi-pliers but finally made the switch to Leatherman because of the one handed opening ability of the knife blades and the very solid locks for these blades.

The Gerber has always had the advantage of the one handed opening pliers but I have always had to carry a seperate pocket knife if I wanted a blade that was accessable with one hand. The Wave eliminates this problem.

It allows me to eliminate a piece of equipment from my pocket and its fine for daily wear or backpacking. I rarely have a day when I fail to use it in some way.

Don't pay a retail price of over $65 though. Ebay has them by the scads for around $50.
