Be prepared if disaster strikes in the winter backcountry--this shovel has a 6' avalanche probe stored in its handle.. Heavy-gauge aluminum scoop chops through frozen snow with ease; shovel and handle pack down to a compact, 19" length. Ergonomically designed D-shaped, offset grip is reversible; ideal for chopping and digging. Oval-shaped tube handle increases the shaft's strength. Depress the twin-button lock to release the multi-section 6' aluminum probe; sections joined by a steel cable and threaded top-lock. A webbing strap attached to the twin-button mechanism makes it easy to remove for probe access and hard to lose.
