The Trek Bivy is uniquely a cross between a bivy and a tent. I love the ease in which it sets up. I recommend guying it out at the loop that is in place about half way up the front seam of the door. This helps with the sag that can occur more or less depending on weather conditions, in the material between the front and back pole hoops. To help control condensation, open the door as much as the weather permits. I have yet to use it for winter trekking, but it has easily stood up to full three season use.

I really liked this bivy. When I first set it up I was doubtful that I would fit into it. (I am 6' 4" tall) But I fit a termarest type pad and zero degree Wiggys bag in it without any problems. I really liked the little mesh pocket which allowed me to put my glasses, small flashlight, etc close at hand. I had read many statements about how horrible bivys are and expected to feel claustrophobic. However; the two hoops make it feel more like a really small tent than an "emergency" shelter. I plan on using this for backpacking, SAR (Search and Rescue) instead of a tent. The 2 person tent I used on last backpacking trip led me to buy this bivy.

This Bivy borders on single man tent size but resolves the problem of keeping sleeping bag ect. dry when it is still raining in the morning. Although when humid, inside condensation can overwhelm due to poor ventilation (true of all bivys). Fits 6'6" touching at the feet but comfortable (material off of face). Allows enough room to squirm into clothes if it is raining in the morning. Can be difficult to set up due to the odd shape. It requires tent pegs to be repositioned multiple times to get the correct layout. Top material is excessive and sags too much while base is already tight.

Well, Bike tourer wasnt an option, but I used this while riding mountain bikes aroudn montana last summer, and it wasnt too hot. I also used it camping in the late fall and I wasnt too cold. Easy to set up and very dry and nice. Small but not too small. It is good. More of a one man tent than a bivy. I dont think they are produced anymore

never had to deal, but friends ended up buying what seemed to be a "in the desert only" tent from TNF a few years ago, and they pretty much didnt care that the tent didnt hold out water.

decent. not really tested in serious rain or snow, but the gore-tex has not breather well, as moisture has built up from time to time. overall, it is good, if you can set it up the way it is supposed to be

Excellent product, well made and durable so far. Light weight, 2 1/2 pounds, and very roomy for my 157 lbs 5'''' 9" body. Used about 25 nights so far in tempatures as low as 5 degrees. Neither wind, rain nor snow present much of a problem. Only moisture inside has been that produced by my me, which is not that great of a problem. It helps to leave the door open to allow some ventilation. In spite of my dislike of The North Face due to poor customer service I do recommend this product.
