Excellent general mountaineering/Glacier crampons. I have step in bindings. The toe bail needs a little care when fitting to wide toe Asolo boots. Good points are stainless steel does not rust, ankle retention strap. I have used these crampons on vertical waterfall ice but the horizontal front points take more effort to kick in and do not hold as well as vertical points will. 5 star value because I paid only $50 at mgear,com for closeout. They would be good value at twice that price. I dropped 1 star on overall because a tool is required to adjust length 8mm. The tool does come with the crampons. Worn on several trips the points, including front points work well and retain sharpness on mixed surface.

I lost a toe bail in a fall. Adventure 16 referred me to Shorelinemtn.com who shipped replacements at minimal cost. The Shoreline folks are fabulous.

My son has Kong Bonati strap ons. Friends have Grivel. The no tools adjustment of Grivel is nice, but neither are Stainless and can rust between trips if not maintained. Crampons must fit the boot and that is a match between boot/crampon size and shape.

Excellent strap-on for those days with variable conditions. It has excellent purchase in bulletproof ice and hardpack. Softer snow tends to collect but is easily dislodged. The straps are a bit too long. May be a concern with those with smaller boots
