I owned one for a while and ended up upgrading to a Misty Mountain Titan largely because the Arete has no padded leg loops. I spend a little time hanging and the arete doens't have much in the way of comfort in the leg area.

If you are gonna be hanging or doggin' alot (sport climbing, rap'n, or ascending) then I would recommend the MM Titan. It's about 129.00 but it's very nice.

However, if you do not plan on hanging a whole heck of alot then there is no need to go with a harness as expensive as the Titan. Misty Mountain, in my opinion, is the best harness manufacturer. They have something for everyone. They make plenty of other harness with padded leg loops that are much better priced than the Titan.

However, no matter what you end up getting, I can't stress enough, the usefulness of adjustable leg loops. There is no downside to getting adjustable leg loops other than a little more money.

Customer Service

Misty Mountain is a much smaller company than one might think. I called there once for someting or other and was surprised when "Goose", the co-owner, picked up. We chatted for quite a while on local climbing and he told me how he's so busy with MM that he can't get out to climb anymore that much. Great guy and a great company.

I owned a Petzl Jump but sold it because I was a little to big for a medium but too small for a large and it had began to annoy me. Also, I will never own a harness w/out adjustable leg loops again. The Jump didn't have them and that's why I had to sell it.

I currently own a Misty Mountain Titan. Yes, I know, it's damn expensive but it really is a premo harness.

Had this harness for three years and find it to be a good value - I'm mostly a mountaineer and trad climber so don't spend much time hanging in the thing. The end of the belt frayed on me and the belt can be hard to double-back with numb fingers but I've hashed it through Vedauwoo chimneys with no visible scuffing.

I run the climbing progam at a community college. This is a great intro harness, that fits a wide variety of shapes and is much more comfortable than many othe adjustables. I worn them, my students have worn them, and no complaints. A good value for any such need.
