I have the Rambo first gen. (silver) wonderful tool evolution is one of the best pick out there and the Croumayer is tuff as nails love it for alpine climbing (it’s a little lacks for solid water ice) but one of the best allarounder ice tool I also like the smoothened flash rubber shaft that mine came with I don’t like the nose and the bump on the Rambo II its harder to plunge in the snow Customer Service No need works flawlessly 7 years and going strong Similar Products Used: Simond Piranha - excellent tool as well got them for my girl (no more silver Grivel) BDCF black Prophets - Too thick of a handle and still heavier |

Rambos are the most straight-forward ice tools I've used. They swing "honestly" on what feels like a natural curve for me. They are predictable and give great placement feed-back, unlike both lighter and heavier tools I've tried. The thin pick is a dream on cold, brittle days, yet stands up (so far) to mixed work. Similar Products Used: The full gambit of BD's (prophet, CFBP, shrike), Lucky 007's, DMM Predators, Simond Pirahnas...tried the Rambos first and kept coming back to them. |

this tool has good balance to suit snow/snow-ice/water-ice. The shaft has Similar Products Used: B.D. CFBP : very sweet on hard water ice. |

In my opinion, the Evolution pick is the best pick out there. The tool also swings very nice, is weighted perfectly, and the grip fits perfect in my hands. The bent shaft is great on vertical ice, but still can be plunged if necessary on Alpine climbs. I would recommend this tool to anyone. If you're starting out, get these tools and you'll never be sorry. Everyone will want to climb on them. Similar Products Used: I've tried the BD Carbon Black Prophets, and the shaft is awkward in my hand. I have small hands, and it's too big. I also think the Grivel swings nicer. |
