Very nice boot indeed. Wore them around the house for a couple of hours. Then went out on a 4 mile hike. These boots are hummers of hiking boots. No ankle twisting, or bruised soles of feet. Very nice last in the shoe too, it is so comfy. I have tried a myriad of boots to try to get the fit right, and these are it. I went out and got a 2nd pair because I am afraid I will not be able to find them later on. Worth every penny, even if I had to pay full price!

Got these on closeout directly from Black Diamond online, appears they are discontinuing the model which is a shame. Faily stiff boot, but comfortable esp if you fit the Scarpa foot shape. Sizing is right on according to Scarpa's charts,as a US sz 9 a 42 fit me perfectly. Short break in period, I got one small blister first outing with them. Lacing system is quick and can keep independent upper and lower boot tensions to relax cuff tension a bit if you like. Vibram sole grips wet and dry rock well. Toe and heel ledge fit my automatic crampons. I've walked through snow, mud and submerged them in water while fishing streams, all with no leakage. Leather is rugged and cleans up easily. I've put about 60 miles of heavy backpacking, hiking and rock to rock stream fishing on mine so far with hardly a scratch, I have no doubt they'll have great long term durability. For $150 they were a screamin' deal, get 'em from BD before they're gone!

So far so good, I have not had these boots long but having owned several pair of mountain boots I have to say I may have finally found my boot.I live at the foothills of the north cascades and believe this may be the best type of boot for MOST of the peaks in my back yard.First and formost is the fit, as close to perfect as you can get without buying custom. My feet are of medium width with high arches. The boot itself is by far the most comfortable I have tried in this class.Construction, materials, and attention to detail is first class. On the brannock device I measure 9.5 US I purchased 44 euro a tad big but not a problem. The rocker on this boot definatly helps with those long approaches. If this boot fits, you will be hard pressed to find a better light mountain boot.Waterproofness is like any other non-lined leather boot, as all leather boots should be in my opinion.( gore-tex makes for a great vapor barrier)! Take care of them as recommended and they will take care of you.I will update this review after 2 or 3 hundred miles.

GREAT BOOT! After months of searching and searching I finaly found the boot that fits. In many ways this boot is superb. HS12 treatment, 3mm crosta, M4 sole, and craftsmenship make this boot great. Break in is that bad, personally mine aren''''t boken in yet but I can tell it isn''''t going to be half bad. Great boot for a great price.

owned them a couple of weeks and have been using them for work (ranger) they have given some blisters as all new boots tend to. The do seem to be very comfortable and I feel that I have had less foot fatique from these boots as compared to others. They do shorten a bit in length when the sole break in. I noticed someone else has noticed this problem

These are excellent boots with their most important feature being immence flexibility - they are fantasticly comfortable on long hot trails but also take a C2 crampon and work supberbly on snow. Note that in England they have won all reviews as the best 4 season boot on the market. I have just returned from 10 days in the Pyrenees where I walked in 85 degrees on the GR11 and climbed Mounts Aneto and Perdido. The Manta M4's were fantastics - excellent support, firm sole for kicking steps and not one blister or strain.

Wow, this is a great boot. I tried the M3 Delta and SL both were good apart from the fact that the delta sole was way too flexible for me. Personal preference I guess. This stiffness of this is suitable for B2 crampons. I thought the reversed crosta leather would not be durable enough but the salesman ensured me it would be and if I did not believe him I could bring them back. Well I still have them and am really pleased with there unrivaled comfort , support and the ability to keep my feet at the optimum temperature. It enables me to go four season backpacking and mountaineering but also summer use with the appropriate sock. The blue leather is a nice refreshing change to all the browns commonly associated walking boots. I do like the speed lacing system and it has stood the test of time. I highly recommend these boots to anyone who walks the extra fourth season but still enjoys a good summer trip.

I bought these boots after going to 5 stores and trying about 12 different boots. They felt great right away. I did not have a chance to break them in before I used them on a Rainer climb. Three days latter my feet felt great and were keep warm and dry. They worked great with my step-in bindings. I am very impressed and would highly reccommend these boots.

This is an excellent boot, beautifully designed and constructed with the highest in quality. Break in period is not too long but there definitely is a break in period! Great foot support, lining wicks away perspiration, outer leather first class and durable. lacing system works well to give the foot good support. A couple of watch out fors: Firstly, definitely buy the boot with ample room. I say this because when we first fit the boot with what we though to be exact measurements and feel, there is a curlin of the toe box, thus shortening the boot and cramping the toes. Lucky for me, Black Diamond warrantied the boot after the retailer explained the situation. Still, the negative to this is that I have to fully break in another pair...this is a bummer! Second, the tongue is very well designed but constructed with tough leather. When compressed, this bunches up and rubs on the ankle bone. I had to take a small leather and beat the leather to soften the leather. This worked. Also, in the front of the Vibram, I believe there is undue wear where the front toe rocks against the ground. Other than this, one excellent boot.

Customer Service

Black Diamond answered my calls and handled the warranty. However, they gave me a warning that there will be no other warranty service to the boot if I exchange this. This is a bit on the tough side because the boot's curling is not my fault. For the first four months, the boot fit fine. Then once it was broken in, the toe box curled.
