I''ve been using the Assaultline for a couple of months now. Often I rappell off of buildings and bridges, and the sheath has held up remarkably well considering all the sharp edges its been stretched over. I would advise an edge gaurd for these applications, even though the thick 16-strand sheath is one of the toughest I''ve used. It''s low-viz feature has saved my rear on several occasions, especially in low-light conditions. Deploys smoothly from a rope bag strapped to the lower leg as well. The rope is very stable to hang free off of as it''s double-twist core prevents spinning. The Assaultline should be used only for tactical, rescue and similar applications. Not intended for lead climbing, but it does have a load absorbtion feature for emergencies. When time and speed are too critical to set up a backup belay system, this is the rope to trust your life to. |
