I noticed the tail''s 2 mm wider than my old Limited All-Round, perhaps this is the reason. Not a complaint, really, just a characteristic. It''s actually kind of fun laying down all these short turns that don''t seem to slow me down any. It digs into the ice pretty well on crappy days Santa Fe truck oil change Weakness:

First run off the lift I put skiers to shame as I flew by them carving a mean deep cut in the snow and going faster with better control than ever before. This board has amazing control in the woods. groomers and powder. Saskatoon Reefer Unit Repair Weakness:

Nice overall boat. I purchased a modified 'outfitter frame' for stowing gear for overnight trips for two. Oar lock placement will take time depending on height of dry box, ice chest etc....Have air floor and it gives minimal space between frame. Boat handles well and I have had it loaded. Hold much like a drift boat. The Super Puma does not track well compared with a wider Avon, Wing, Etc....and I have been in all. The high rocker that helps with easy handling, is a problem when tracking through a big rapid.
Customer Service Haven't dealt directly with Aire, but OutdoorPlay has great customer service. The person I dealt with at OutdoorPlay didn't really give 'accurate' advice about oars, and other accessories, but if you know what you want their great. Similar Products Used: Avon, Wing, and Hyside rafts and many types of hardshell yaks and IK's. |

This boat is unbeatable as a paddle raft with up to six paddlers - any more and it gets a bit tight (despite advertising showing seven, I wouldn't plan on getting to the take-out with any teeth doing more than six!). Aire's self-bailing laced in floor is outstanding and the boat is nearly indestructable. It is both light-weight and packable (with Air floor). You might try to get the dealer to lace the floor in for you as it's a real pain in the rump. I affectionately call this chore "Arthritis Training Camp" as I've done about ten of these and though it's not rocket science, it really starts to get your fingers in a bind after a while. The three thwarts are lace-in variety, but easily removable. Aire's bladder system makes this boat a cinch to repair (not that I've EVER had to repair one of these with the 2200 denier PVC fabric). This is also an outstanding fishing rig for tight technical runs where it's not reasonable to get in on foot or by car. The large tube diameter makes it more stable in big water than you would think, but the width makes for a quick flip during a mess-up. One nice thing about this boat is it's easily righted with two people (even without flip lines) and enough D-rings abound for easy roping of a "chicken line" and other niceties for heavy Class IV+ runs. This is an excellent R2 (two paddler) boat for tight technical rivers with gear. Sport-fisher and cooler frames can be found as well as more information on: www.cascadeoutfitters.com, or you may go to the manufacturer at: www.aire.com Customer Service See detail on Lynx I & II about manufacturers EXCELLENT track record! They have the best warranty in the industry and will back it up without question. 10 Year "bumper to bumper" on all materials and workmanship. All seams are either heat welded or industrial-stiched. Comes with lacing material for floor, video, and complete repair kit. Note: the MEK is not present in the repair kit, so you might want to pick some of this up before you set out on your first 7-day Class IV expedition! Similar Products Used: The ONLY similar product is Maravia's Spyder (which is a superior-handling boat), but is in another price-bracket entirely as well as not having the bladder system for easy repairs. |
