I built the Chesapeake 18 in my garage last winter and have been paddling it all year. It took me about 100 hours to complete with great results, especially considering my moderate wood working skills and lack of patience - a real testimony to the quality of the kit and helpfulness of the CLC staff when I called with questions. The Guillemot BB is also very helpful. I get compiments on the boat wherever I go. It paddles very well, excellent tracking and good stability. I am a big guy (6-6, 250) and would heartilly recommend this boat to other large folks, smaller people should lean to the 16, 17 or LT versions.

Customer Service

The CLC people were great. I made plenty of mistakes, needed a few replacement parts and had many questions. They were always patient and helpful. I am fortunate to only live 45 minutes from their shop so I was able to stop in but they were also good on the phone.
