Strength:

I found that she tracks very well. I was able to keep up with my friend(in a 17ft sit in)with no problems on long stretches. She is very maneuveralbe so there is no need for a rudder. The prism is a great boat, especially for florida waters. Folsom Bounce House Rental

The width of the Pegasus is Old Appliances Removal makes it easy to right in deep water. Simply flip the boat by pressing up on the side nearest to you, reaching across to the far strap, and pulling yourself back on top.

I've paddled canoes since the 70's and had several flat water kayaks. I bought my 1st Pegasus in about '95. It is a wonderful boat for a new kayaker. It is very stable, side surfs well and tracks fairly well. The quality I consider most valuable is that for the newbe it takes the fear away of being upside down, gives the swimmer an extra foundation of floatation, and no swamped boat to dump. I recommend the Pegasus for any new or young paddler. I bought a 2nd Pegasus for my son when he was about 10 and we still paddle them. If you want to roll the boat you might think twice about a high back rest.

In response to Jeff's comments (Boulder, CO) above, the Pegasus does well in Class II whitewater, and OK in Class III. I have used my
boat on the Middle Yough PA (Class I-II) and the Cheat Narrows WV (Class II-III). The boat and I were munched in the big hole at Calamity (Cheat); however, it handled 5 foot waves very effectively - just stay loose in the hips, head for the big stuff and hang on! It side surfs well, but at times the nose can dive. The thigh strap configuration is the best that I have seen and provides a tight fit - much better that the Torrent and Yahoo. It CAN be rolled on flatwater. The width of the Pegasus makes it easy to right in deep water. Simply flip the boat by pressing up on the side nearest to you, and reaching across to the far strap and pulling yourself back on top. The EXL hull is very durable and is the standard composite used on the real Dagger boats.

A fun little boat for lakes and streams. It's good for goofing around if you're new to kayaks and haven't learned to eskimo roll yet. The beam is a bit wide (IMHO) to roll; it's really stable- you have to work to tip it.
Dagger says it's suitable for class II rapids although I haven't tried it yet.
Minuses? Tends to leak at the gear hatch and water bottle holder, requiring regular draining. No seatback is provided, but you can get aftermarket parts or rig one up yourself.
