Paddler
Pros: good initial and secondary stability. You can put this boat on edge till the spray skirt is in the water without going over. Good storage capacity, & hatches don't leak much. Nice Dagger multicolors available. Cons: It's a barge, at least for a smaller paddler -- heavy, flat, slow to accelerate. Response to lean is unpredictable, depending on wind and current. Weathercocks badly. Deck rigging attachment points are poor quality. Rudder hardware periodically locks up, a drawback on trips -- don't go without a screwdriver and wrench! Similar Products Used: I bought a Prijon Catalina, and haven't been in the Seeker since. It's fast, nimble, and responsible to the *thought* of a lean. Pricey for plastic, but a great boat. |

Paddler
First, I got a bargain. I think. It came with a skirt and a paddle. I paddle the colorado river and the dammed lake to the west of it on town lake in austin. It does a great job of going straight when you get the balance and all down. I haven't tried to role it, in that this is my first boat. I can get into it from the water, it can hold much gear. It's quick. I'm 6'2", and I could use a little more heighth for my toes. I don't recommend it for anyone taller than myself. My friend I got it from took a little off the rear point of the keel to give it a smoother swing for turning. But, now I have to keep paddling to stay pointed straight. I tend to abuse(test, ya might say...) all my gear-bikes,bags, boat, so I'm probably taking this thing to the coast to hit the waves and through choppy lake waters and and camping, and whatever rapids I find, so I feel like this boat can take it. Good luck. Similar Products Used: None |
