This jacket has served me well. I have done several winter back country backpacking trip and alway take it. This summer I spent two weeks camping with a school group and it rained for a week of it. Very breathable and waterproof. It was a bit expensive but so far it hasn't let me down. I guess you get what you pay for! Similar Products Used: None |

I bought this jacket specifically for my trip to Yellowstone and it did not let me down. True to Yellowstone's nature, it provided the rain and thunderstorms and Marmot provided the protection. On a hike from Yellowstone through the Black Canyon and up into Montana, I got caught in two consecutive thunderstorms over the span of eight hours in which ground temp.'s varied from upper 80's down to mid 40's. I have to say that, at 80 and up, it did get a bit stuffy in the jacket but at all other points, the comfort level was unbelievable! I definitely recommend this product, especially at the I'm-not-lying price of $99 on MVP.COM!!!! Customer Service I had a problem with shipping. I paid for 2 day overnight shipping and MVP.COM sent it via UPS. Four days later, it had not arrived yet! UPS did refund my cash but the damage was already done. I placed a courtesy call to MVP.COM and, even though it was not their fault, they gave me a $20 credit on their site (even after I insisted that it was not necessary). They further advised that they will no longer use UPS for priority deliveries but rather FEDEX (I'm guessing other folks may have had similar problems...) Similar Products Used: None |

One day I was shopping at the local flea market and came across a stand where this jacket was hanging. I was shoked to see such a nice jacket completley new but without the tags just sitting there. the week before I had just purchased TNF mountain light. I had did some shopping and learned that marmot is a great manufactuer. however I went with TNF. Any way I aske the lady how much and shee sold it to me for $8. 00. Even though it was a small I bought it anyway for my girlfriend I was in shock for days because I new it retailed for 399.00 well my girlfriend loves it weve gone skiing three times and she argues that her marmot is better than my north face. I must admit I like the 3 ply and hood desighn better than my jacket I even think the durability of the marmot might be stronger. but I really dig TNF's stow away pocket. thanks , JC Similar Products Used: TNF mountain light jacket |

This jacket has been wonderful for me. The fit is amazing. The quality of construction is also very good. I kind of wish I would have got a 3 layer jacket, the mesh gets in the way a little. The hood is very adjustable, so it allows good visablity and movement. Everything has been very well though out. It has always kept me dry though backpacking trips where the rain doesn't stop, snow caving, and even on rainy days around campus. Highly recommended to anyone who needs a high end shell. |

What a fantastic shell! I have worn this on many mountaineering trips, backpacking forays, and in just general crumby weather. It has always performed with excellence. I spent a year backpacking around the world in some of the more inhospitable places and this jacket always kept me dry and comfortable. From Patagonian winds to Himalayan monsoons, I have never been dissapointed. It may not be cheap, but you get what you pay for in a great shell. |

I like this jacket very much, Marmot products are excellent, they stand behind their stuff. I'm 6'-4" and have fairly long arms so when I looked at new GoreTex jackets this past year, I was looking closely at articulation, I was attracted to the new Arc'teryx stuff, but the articulation when reaching high over my head (with an ice tool) didn't compare to the Marmot "Angelwing" cut... (I think thats what they call it). Marmot could delete the "Zippin" feature which I feel is really only a marketing ploy, it would shed some weight and bulk on what otherwise is truly "as advertised" quality design and execution. If I bought another jacket today, I would probably consider the Marmot "Alpinist" Climbing jacket over the "Lightweight", but I have no regrets. Marmot has proven themselves to me over the past ten years. (It might be worth noting that this jacket replaced an old (8 years) Marmot "Alpinist" parka that had started to "wet out" in heavy rains) Customer Service Marmot's customer service is "golden", the once replaced a pair of gloves that develped a liner problem after a season of use, they also replaced at their cost (very resonably) a down vest belonging to my girlfriend, that she irrepairably damaged by accident, promptly... I had an older model of this jacket and I finally gave it away . The design of the jacket and cut where good. The problem I had with it was it soaked up water like a sponge. I also found that in extream conditions that the nylon liner gets soaked. This jacket would hold so much water that if it was cold enough the jacket would freeze solid by morning. I've since switched over to 3 layer goretex and have been pleased with the results. Similar Products Used: Sierra designs avalanche jacket |
