Mountain Hardwear Vertigo Jacket Shell Jackets

Mountain Hardwear Vertigo Jacket Shell Jackets

DESCRIPTION

The comfortable, short-waisted Vertigo Jacket is a full-featured shell with clean lines and no waist drawcord. Its shoulders and upper arms are reinforced with Supplex nylon for added durability. The extra-long Simplex pit zips offer exceptional ventilation. Moisture-wicking CoolMax mesh lines the torso for comfort. The Ergo Hood shields the face without hindering peripheral vision and head movement. Chest pockets (placed high) can be accessed even when your pack waistbelt is cinched. Drawcords at hip and hood adjust with one hand. Stow the Jacket inside its zippered, inner security pocket.

Once I got this coat I could immediately tell the difference in quality between this one and my TNF coat. Mountain Hardware makes some great stuff. I'm highly impressed with the functionability of the hood. I would definately go with another if I ever wear this one out (which I don't see happening for several seasons more).

Never dealt w/ Mountain Hardware's customer service.

The Vertigo jacket is an excellent shell. I have worn it through many downpours and always remain completely dry. The best thing about this shell is its light weight and packability (it stuffs into its inner pocket to the size of a softball). It is cut shorter, which is great for shorter people that don't want their shell touching their knees the way some parkas tend to do. The only complaint I have about this shell is the skimpy use of velcro on the front pocket closures. Other than this small point, the Vertigo is an excellent choice for minimalist backpackers that want Gore-Tex quality in their rain gear. Shop around online and get it on sale (I found mine for half price)!

Customer Service

I have never had to use Mountain Hardwear's customer service, as it has been my experience that Mountain Hardwear consistantly makes rock-solid gear.

A great jacket, I wish I would have gotten the Parka though since it is a little longer. The extra long pit zips provide excellant vetillation but can be hard to get opened and closed. The hood is very functional. This jacket will keep you dry. Very pleased overall. I am getting used to the high chest pockets but it would be nice to have lower pockets for when you are not backpacking. Another well constructed MountainHardware product.
