Great for skiing, keeps me warm/dry and keeps me cool with the pit zips. Not the greatest in powder, skirt could be designed a bit better. Lost waterproofness even with treatment. TNF has cheepened it's products over the past few years, single stitches and zipper always opens a bit when closed completely. Similar Products Used: None |

Fine Points: Great Warranty. I have had 6 northface goretex jackets since 1977. All were replaced. All of them eventually failed. Yours will too eventually.... Similar Products Used: None |

Great jacket! I own many North face products, packs, sleeping bags, vests, fleece jackets, down jackets and accsessories. I have found all of them to be of extremely high quality and bombproof. I am a graduate student as well as a kayaker, guide ,and scuba diving instructor. I reccomend The North Face gear to all of my students and clients. The warrenty is great, they stand behind their gear! Similar Products Used: Helly Hansen, Pacific trail, Cabelas, and many other brands... |

I bought mine this last year and have enjoyed it alot. I have had it out on several camping trips this winter and had no problems with it at all. I have not washed it yet but do not expect and problems when I do. I am looking for another one for my son. Similar Products Used: None |

A good jacket that has served me well over the past two years. It lost its waterproofness in about a year, which is about standard for 2-ply Gore-Tex, I think. My only issue is with the non-adjustable hood. The way it's cut now restricts my vision. One unique feature I do like is the butt cover so you can sit on wet surfaces without getting your @$$ wet. I have used lesser jackets and last year sprung the money for the Moutain Light. The best money I have ever spent. Similar Products Used: None |

I've owned the jacket for two (+) years, four summit attempts on Mount Hood & up St Helens several times. Never had any problems with the jacket!! Zipped in/out the down coat & fleece vest multiple times. No problems w/ any of the "hardware" on the jacket. Similar Products Used: none |

I have had this jacket for approximately 2 years now. Overall, I am somewhat dissapointed with this jacket. First, the jacket doesn't fit very well. Second, ALL of the plastic hardware on ALL of the North Face products shatters for no apparent reason under no unusual stress.(This has happened on all of my North Face products.) Things such as the toggle clamps on the hood and waistline broke soon after I got it. North face replaced these recently though, with what seems to be maybe better stuff. It is very comfortable however, but loses its DWR finish. You must reapply it frequently. I would only recommend this jacket for around town use, or if you found a good deal on it (not hard). Customer Service One time some compression straps pulled themselves out of my fanny pack, and when I received it back, it was fixed, but they sent a letter saying i had done the damage myself. Other than that, I have had no problems with getting a sleeping bag repaired- theyre very good about that. Similar Products Used: none |

I bought this jacket online a few months ago, and since then have used it countless times in the windy, snowy east coast conditions. I have taken it to the Shenandoahs twice in windy cold rain, and have stayed perfectly dry. It takes the chill out of any wind, whether it is worn over an insulating layer or not. I don't have a million dollars to blow on outdoor gear, so I opted not to go with a Denali fleece, but rather a less expensive and (I think) more versatile fleece, the bi-polar jacket from Sierra Designs with the core-vent zips. With that zipped into the Mountain Light (They are compatible) I have yet to be cold, even in the mountains when it was 12 degrees, 40 mph wind, and freezing rain. I resent the fact that half the poople on my college campus wear similar jackets from TNF and other companies not for utility, but as status symbols, but I bought the jacket because it works, not because I care what other people think about my clothes. Small pack, large pack, no pack, I get the features and the freedom of movement I need for a good price. Can't ask for anything else. |
