Day Hiker
First bought Mountain light parka but after a week, I needed something more tough and more active. Used in -20 degree to snow storms. Kept dry no water what so ever. Vents are not good for warm spring days. I use mine with Denali fleece (they zip together) After 2 -3 times washing right collar started to show some wear due to friction with my metal wrist watch. I told this to North Face and they told me to send it back to them and a month later they replaced it! Customer Service Perfect! Send 3 jacket and a pair of shoes for repair. So far they only repaired one jacket, rest they have replaced them with brand new ones. |

I have hiked around mt. hood in this jacket. It was raining and snowing and I stayed dry and very warm. I was disapointed that TNF didn''t put hand warmer pockets in to this years jacket. I have had many differant jackets by mountian hardwear and marmot to name a few. I always go back to my mountian jacket because it fits me better than the others, I am a big guy at 300 pounds yet this jacket is still very comfotable. Customer Service This is my second jacket that was given to me for free because of the Gore-tex failing by The North Face. I have been outstandingly happy with the customer service provided by the north face. Similar Products Used: alpine jacket from marmot, and the exposure II jacket from Mountain Hardwear |

None I bought the Mountain Jacket half a year ago and have been using it for mountaineering and snowboarding, iow in all kinds of weather. I see that a lot of the reviews here claim that the jacket is best suited for spring/summer use, and do not agree. The jackets main downside is its vents, which close easily because of the velcros. They''re also a tad small. As a result I generated a lot of sweat during the summer months. In winter and cold weather (norwegian spring, fall and winter) however the jacket is excellent. it''s waterproof, the fit is comfortable and it looks darn good. the hood adjusts easily and fits your head with or without a helmet. props also to the many nice details. Customer Service no contact with tnf Similar Products Used: None |

Slick color-spliced pattern down the sides of the body make for a nice break in TNF tradition. Rest assured, however, the changes aren't just for the fashion-minded. As fully featured and performance oriented as the tried and true original, with innovative new core venting and Napoleon pockets that keep your hands toasty warm on icy lift rides, and won't get in the way of your backpack straps Customer Service no experience although i've heard Similar Products Used: None |

Awesome light weight apline style jacket. Perfect for spring, summer, and fall mountaineering 32 - 70 degrees (F). Customer Service They took 7 weeks and 3 phone calls to send out a warranty refund check. Similar Products Used: MarmotAlpine |

This is a two season shell (late fall, winter, early spring). I wouldn't want to wear it in temps above 50F. But for the cooler temps, it's tough to beat. The taslan shoulders/elbows make the stress areas super durable. The thermastat lining adds a little insulation. I feel the mountain jacket is more agile than the longer mountain light secondary to its cut. The powderskirt (which the mountain jacket does not have, I believe) is very appreciated when I wipe out snowboarding. Overall, no major weakness. Customer Service Decent customer service but be prepared for long waits to get your goods back. Similar Products Used: TNF mountain light |

As usual I have never had a problem with the quality of North Face products. The Mountain parka in not as easy to compress or pack as some lightweight shells but the weight of fabric denotes wearability and durability. I have used this parka with a denalli liner in the winter and without the liner in the summer for backpacking and crosscountry skiing and it is the best. All features such as pockets, hood, armpit zips and mesh linning are well constructed and well thought out. Customer Service A pair of North Face gloves that started coming apart at the seams were sent in and returned in a prompt fashion and repaired at no charge. These glover were several years old when the seam started to come apart. |

Great jacket for most activities. I specially like the hood of the jacket, it fits perfect in all situations even with a helmet. Sometimes I can find the jacket to feel a little bulky in case I only wear some thin underwear. All the straps can easily be adjusted with thick gloves.
