I've had my jacket for a year and a half. Its lite enough that i can use it as a rain jacket in the summer, and i can zip in a fleece in the winter to stay warm. It keeps me warm and dry. I do have one big complaint. The water repelant finish is terrible. It wore off in about 8 months. I bought some nikwax and that fixed the problem however, when i went skiing, my marmot teton pants that I payed $80 for performed much better than my $300+ north face jacket. At the end of the day the jacket wetted out and the pants didnt have a drop of water on them. Next jacket I buy will be marmot or mountain hardwear.

I bought the North Face mountain light jacket last fall from campmor for $199.00. It was last year''s model and on sale, but for the savings in money, I am very pleased. I have used it several times, in rain, sleet, but not in snow yet. I also have a fleece liner to go inside (another review), which keeps me very warm. The mountain light is a great jacket, waterproof, warm, and very durable. It is the ideal jacket for backpacking in windy, cold, wet, conditions with a liner. When this jacket wears out, I would probably replace it with another one. The only thing that I don''t like about it is that it doesn''t have hand warmer pockets, but I think the newer models do. I also think it is a bit heavy but worth the extra weight for the durability. By the way, campmor has the 2001 mountain lights on sale now for $199.00 check them out.

This is an awesome parka. I happened to hit an L.L. Bean Factory Store blowout sale on a rack of these. I already had the Pumori fleece, which mates perfectly. This is the dryest, warmest, sharpest and most versatile piece of clothing I have. XCR GoreTex is the newest state of the art Gore Tex material and is not a bunch of bull. It works! I''ve hiked in the rain and wet snow and have been so dry. The core vents cool you off when you work up a sweat and my sweat was wicked right out through my fleece and out through the Gore Tex. You don''t have to pay full($375.00) price- watch for sales and snag one of these babies. It''s going to last forever.

I purchased this product about one month ago, so I cannot comment on the long-term durability. However, the quality appears to be very high. I have been in two heavy rainstorms and the parka performed perfectly. It kicks butt over my Maintain Hardwear shell, which actually cost even more than TNF. It is also hard to argue with a lifetime warranty.

Customer Service

Never needed it with other TNF products
