The North Face Pamir Parka Shell Jackets

The North Face Pamir Parka Shell Jackets

DESCRIPTION

Using a Gore Windstopper laminate, the Pamir stops the wind in it's track, ending the goose bump explosion and adding several degrees of warmth. Reinforced where it counts and cut for movement, the Pamir Parka was made for climbing and cold weather activities requiring breathability, windproofness, warmth, flexibility and comfort.

I bought this jacket as I'm a gear junkie, and can't pass up a sale. I am quite pleased with it, but it's not as warm as my hard shelled jackets. However, on cold days, it will keep the heat in extremely well in addition to wearing a hard shell jacket (since windstopper fleece is far less breathable than regular fleece). In addition to being comfortable, windproof, and relatively warm, it also looks cool, which is almost as important as function. Long live TNF

The Pamir is my only soft shelled jacket...and I don't plan on buying any other ones than this one.

I have the 98-99 pamir jacket. This jacket was a great buy. This jacket is gore windstopper. Absolutly wonderful. I also have a 300 series fleece and this is so much warmer. The windstopper makes fleece jackets a little more stiff but not much. My friend bought the Mountain Hardwear fleece windstopper and we both agree the North Face Pamir is the better one. It has 4 pockets. 2 lower and 2 by the core vents. The upper pockets have a flap over them so if you forget to close them, snow won't go in. The reiforced areas shown in black have rip-stop, a very nice feature. This jacket is wind proof and when it rains the water beads right off. It's not water resistant but I was amized how it didn't soak up nearly as much water as a normal fleece would. You gotta love this jacket!!

I have used this parka while skiing, hiking and generally on cold, wet, days. I am amazed that such a thin parka retains heat, repells the wind, and keeps the body so comfortable. It fits close but still flexes well without causing resistance in body movement. Zippers are smooth, easy to adjust with gloves. Pockets are plentiful on the outside and one available inside. Adjustments to "fit" can be made to keep the wind from blowing underneath. I recommend this to anyone.
