OK, so I read the other review posted and had to try these. I actually got the Alpstar pants, which are the same except with a regular waistband (with belt loops)and fly, and a velcro tab at the gusetted cuff instead of a zipper. Otherwise the same fabric and cut (so I''m told). Let me tell you, I totally agree that these are the best pants around! Comfortable in a wide temperature range-I wear them around the house which is 68 F and in the snow, and around town rain or shine and I''m comfortable the whole time. I add long underwear and gaiters if in the snow. They shed rain and wind well. The cut, fit and stretch make them totally unrestrictive for any activity I can think of. As the last poster said, they look cool as a bonus. Worth every penny. Customer Service They people answering the phone are really nice and helpful. I only returned one pair that was not the color I expected. I was sent the other color no questions. One of the best investments ever. I just got off Mt. Shasta and am very impressed with these pants. The entire weekend I worn these pants and midweight underwear for the entire trip from the trail to the base, from the base to Helen Lake, and from Helen Lake to the Summit. Only at 12,000 ft did I put my Gor-tex pants over them and the only reson for that was the 40 mph winds.
