The heels have been pre-releasing for a year now, but it finally broke. When I asked the shop about it, they knew all about it. I like the atomic skis, but I'll never buy their binding products or the dealers propaganda of a "new and better design" again. |

The heel bindings went on my Atomic R11's once and I replaced them. They went again. (Same problem with my friend's Atomics).

I am really upset about this. I have 6 days on these bindings and they are toast. As you all describe, walk right out of them. Further I am informed that no other binding fits my new Atomic skiis that I paid $500 for. So not only are the bindings shot, I may have to throw away the skiis. I am a long time Atomic fan, but if I do not get satisfaction, I will blog them forever and tell everyone I know what crap this binding is.

And all this time I thought it was something I was doing wrong: improper maintenance or set-up. But I too, have had the same problem of being almost able to walk out of the bindings. I locked the toe and crancked the DIN to the max. I wasn't really comfortable with that but I was still losing my ski in the midst of carving a turn - not fun at any time but especially crappy in powder. To top it off, this past weekend, I lost the entire rear assembly of one binding when the plastic broke at the pivot pin. Like others, I will be looking to replace my bindings with something other than Atomics. I just hope they'll fit on my Beta Carv 9.18s or not only will I be buying new bindings but new skis as well. |

I've skied my Atomic Xentrix 412 bindings (mounted on Atomic 9.20s) no more than 10 times, and the rear binding springs appear to be completely worn out. I gradually had to increase the DIN setting over time to keep from walking out of the binding. Now, with the DIN set at 12, I can go no tighter, and I can't keep the ski from falling out with even the slightest up lift of the boot heel! Other posts on this site tell similar stories. Is there a way to replace the binding spring? (I doubt it, but I had to ask). I'm not too hot on buying another set of Atomic bindings. Can other manufaturer's bindings be fit onto the Atomic 9.20 board? I'd like to hear what others have done (short of buying a new set of skis and bindings) thanks |

Strength:
None.
Weakness:
They break. At the beginning of this year, I snapped a pair of 2002 10.EX's. They were under warranty, so I sent them to Atomic. Atomic sent me back a pair of 2002 10.20s which was disappointing, but what could I do? Even more disappointing was that you had to mount Atomic bindings to 10.20s. I've heard about Atomic's binding problems for years, but had no choice but to buy some. My shop found a pair of 2002 412s lying around and charged me $50. After 3 times out, I broke the cam in the right heel piece, which made it possible to walk out of the binding with very minimal pressure. (We're talking about *very* minimal pressure!) Atomic acknowledged the problem and is sending me a new pair of 2004 bindings (presumably 412's, but who knows). All in all, the 2002 412 is a miserable binding. Beware! Strength:
Never really got a chance to find outdue to weaknesses
Weakness:
Rear binder release. The bindings came with Atomic Beta Race 10.26 skis I got at a sports swap. The skis are great but I too have the rear release problems being spoke of. I have sent the bindings back to Atomic for replacement but the Tech guy seems to think the model is a dud. My din was at 12, which should never be done but it was more dangerous to be skiing the steeps and popping out. These bindings are not an option for an agressive leverage skier. You'll be out of them in a flash and FRUSTRATED! Similar Products Used: Markers have always treated me well |

Strength:
Plate system, easy adjustments.
Weakness:
Walk-out frustration negates all that is good. I read the review posted above that mentions "even though the DIN is set at 11, I can easily walk out of it." I'm an expert skier and I've encountered the same problem many times. Put slightly too much weight forward and they release - way too prematurely! I first realized it wasn't just me when I heard a jeer from the chairlift overhead, as I collected my skis, "nah hah! Atomic bindings - they suck! I know I have them too." Also, locking in the toe is really dangerous. It's just the opposite problem. I suppose this feature is for the extreme skier. However, given the walk-out rear, it just adds unnecessary risk of knee-injury without providing the locked-in reassurance someone might occasionally want. Has anyone else had the walk-out problem? Is there any fix? Does Atomic acknowlege this defect? |

two years ago i got the xentrix 412 on pair of atomic 8.20 for my first year of skiing. last year the binding's brake broke off and something else went wrong, so i got the bindings replaced udner the warranty. this year the bindings are braking again. even though the DIN is set at 11, i can easily walk out of it. this causes problems when skiing terrain like powder... |

Adjustability. Style. Fit and finish. Quality.
Weakness:
Have not found any. Holy cow, what a binding. I can change the way my Atomic Beta 9.26''s handle so much, it''s like having 4 skis in one! In the marginal snow condition we''ve had this winter, ice is a big problem. Until this ski/binding combo that is. Not enough carve? No worries, move the binding up a notch. Amazing. Thank you Atomic! Similar Products Used: Looks, Salomons. |
