Salomon Skiing X-Scream All Mountain

Salomon Skiing X-Scream All Mountain

DESCRIPTION

X-Scream is for advanced skiers who've discovered freeride and the joy of all-terrain skiing.. Designed to give floating power in the powder and still maintain its dynamic qualities and liveliness on hard-pack snow. Monocoque single-wall construction combines fiberglass reinforcement layers with a fiberglass mnocoque. Power Foam core with high-density reinforced polyurethane offers optimized balance between tolerance and performance. Fintex uses shock-absorbing thermoplastic and a fine fibertex foil to dampen vibrations, increasing contact with the snow.

Double Diamond

Strength:

Medium turns at moderate speed.

Weakness:

Lack of stability. Less than impressive edgehold (maybe the pair I rented was in need of a tune). Hesitant to do varied turn shapes.

I demoed a pair at Alyska. They were fine for moderate speeds and medium radius turns. However, as soon as I turned it up a notch the ski seemed to whimper. They didn't care for speed, short turns, long turns, or being pushed. If you would like a ski for easy cruising this might be fine. However, I wouldn't recommend it for more aggressive skiers.

I purchased these skis at the beginning of this season. I was a little hesitant because they are a fairly financial friendly ski. I ski twice a week and I love these skis. They are very quick and hold a great edge on all surfaces. This ski is worth more than the price. I suggest them for someone who doesnt want to spend alot of money but wants great quality and is looking for fun.

I hired a brand new pair of these in very icy conditions pre-season. I found them to be really stable and easy to handle, even in icy conditions. They were a little unforgiving in bumps, although not as bad as some reviews I''ve read. I really liked them! I might well buy a pair.
