These boots have brought me back to free heel skiing! for the past three seasons I've been on AT gear for skiing steeps and other peak descents because I had previously used the 2nd generation T-2s with my Tua Megas... they simply weren't enough boot for steep sketchy snow conditions. With the Terminators I feel comfortable on anything, I've skied virtually all of the steeper ridge terrain this year at Taos Ski Valley, mostly in powder conditions but with some hard Spring pack too, and made a number of off-piste forays as well and I am satisfied, even delighted with my setup. I find all the confidence I never felt with the T-2s, not to trounce them but they were too casual for my tastes, I'll use them for hut skiing and less than 30 degree slopes but never again on steep stuff. These boots have truly set me free again. (BTW, the priceI paid was a "one of a kind", last pair, season close out...)

I love these boots! I have skied on the newest Scarpa T1s, TRaces, and T2s and found these to be my favorite. The T2s are too soft to really drive heavy fats through cut up crud or on hardpack while the TRaces don't have enough flex to be really comfortable. The T1s will carve deep grooves in the worst of ice, especially with plate type bindings (go Linken.com!) For most people with a more aggressive or "new school" style, these boots will rock. I tried them once and now won't go back to my T2s. Fans of leather boots and 3-pins won't enjoy these boots, nor will people who enter the bc for long distance touring. If you dig big air and serious carving at speed, get these boots.

I bought these as an out and out piste boot to complement my T3's for touring. The T1 has excellent lateral rigidity feeling much like an alpine boot and is therefore so much more fun when parallelling.

However having used them for a few weeks on piste, I find the flex to be too stiff for telemarking. Technique has to be exact to be able to exert sufficient pressure through the front of the boot to be able to flex and remain on the ball of the foot. They are definitely not for "knee to the ski" telemarkers; they would be on tiptoe with zero pressure on the rear ski.

I am not alone. Two professional telemark instructors have queried my purchase (both wearing Garmont Garas), and I know wish I had plumped for the Garmonts, which have a softer flex panel.

Ho hum.
