One thing I don't like about this site is you can't write a review for a product not listed. Seems to be driven by the manufacturers to hype up their products. Okay, that said:

These are the Aurora Model, which are an older version of the Sierra.

For $75 I couldn't pass these up. They've been worth it. I can't believe how much some of these snowshoes cost...$250?

I don't like the pivot-strap thingy. I would much prefer a metal type hinge. It kicks snow back up onto my legs, requring me to wear snow pants.

The crampons have been sufficient, though I wouldn't trust the whole snowshoe outfit on anything technical. They're not designed for that.

I was wanting to buy some new snowshoes, but couldn't justify it since I had these ones. So I tried to break them. I came landing down on them like a bridge (toe and tail landing with air inbetween) wearing a 50 lbs pack. I thought for sure they would break. I tried again and again. I still got em.

I think they worth $50-75 if you can find them used.

I was torn between these and the Atlas 1033's, but after careful consideration I chose the Tubbs for several reasons. Tubbs has a great guarantee on their ENTIRE snowshoe, not just the hypalon webbing. Also I'm a big fan of the hinged binding, vs. the cheesy rubberized nylon webbing. The pivot-pin design makes for much easier and less difficult acents. i.e. the shoe will stay parallel to the snow allowing you to dig your toe points in and you won't have to ""fight"" to get the front of the shoe to flex out of the way as you do with the rubberized nylon systems. however, this is a little less desireable for decending (unless going down backwards). the heal of the shoe tends to drag rather than being held up and out of the way. I also found that I didn't keep ""snowing"" myself from behind while walking on the flats with these - other shoes have a tenedency to pop the snow off the back of the shoe on to you or other party memebers.

I've killed these shoes for >10hrs per week for 2+ months a year, going on 4th year. They can really take it. They're not the lightest, and the heel strap is prone to sliding off, even with mountaineering boots, but they get the job done and they are durable.

I have the older models which have a synthetic "cord" which fastens the deck to the frame. THey look a bit like old style snowshows. The are great shoes and Have beaten the crap out of them over the past 3 years. as a result I have torn the plastic cord and have had to repair it.
But Tubbs rule, best binding on the market.

I really liked these shoes. Although they cover quite a bit of ground, I had no problem manipulating through tight spruces to chases bunnies or grouse. I have had less problem knocking shoes with the Sierra's. The one critique that I have for the shoes is that after a couple hours of snow-shoeing, my bindings get loose, and the back webbing would slip off my boot.
All in all, I loved these shoes.

I had this pair for four years. Had only used a military issue aluminum pair and a wooden pair previously. The tubbs were the bomb! Easy entry, great float, excellent durability (used four years and barely scratched), light; what else could you want?
