These snowshoes were easy to strap on and walk in from 100 lbs to 200+ lbs, with packs on. We hike in fairly deep snow and moderate elevation terrain. Not climbing any steep mountains. These were used on a Boy Scout Snow Camping trip. We would really like to purchase these for future trips as it gets harder to find enough snowshoes to rent each year. We have some 30" Sherpas but they are a bit large and clumsy for our smaller boys. We will be shopping around for 6 pairs of this MSR Denali style snowshoe at under $100 each. Thanks!

Originally bought these SnowShoes because I read reviews of a great product and customer service from MSR. I found both are lacking. After one use and a year later pulling them out of the closet I found rust forming on the traction (Item was stored in a dry closet with my other equipment. Nothing else was rusted.) I sent MSR an email stating the issue along with some pictures for a replacement. However, MSR has never responded back (10+ business days).

Great snowshoes. Traction like no other while friends were slipping and sliding on bulletproof snow. Awesome binding system, easy to adjust with gloves on. Adjustable length is innovative adds versatility. Mountain Goat sold them to me at dealer cost (super cool shop)

who is selling MSR Denali ascent for $110.--? I need about 20 pairs. Thanks for info. What do you propose for steep hills and powder ?

I have the MSR Denali Ascents. This is my first pair of snowshoes but I have rented the aluminum framed and webbed and laced type before. These snowshoes are great. Lite weight and easy to manuever around in. The bindings are awesome and very easy to adjust straps in the cold with thick gloves on. Because they are made of plastic they do make allot of noise when hiking on crusty snow. The elevator climbing bar that can be folded up for steep climbs works excellent and really helps to relieve calf fatigue. I really like the option of adding the tail extensions to the snowshoe if you are in softer and deeper snow or carrying a heavier pack. I highly recommend these shoes.

I love them. Easy to put on and they stay put. At 195lbs. plus pack you gotta get the big tails in most conditions. Rugged build, no problem getting through the rocks, creeks, and sticks. Heal elevators are nice. Lots of traction in the cascade concrete. no comlpaints.

I bought the Denali about 8 years ago and they are still going strong. Eight-inch tails were included. My only gripes about them were the original bindings and the noise. The original bindings attached with a rubber strap that laced thru metal hooks- very awkward to use with gloves on, though once tight they stayed tight. I replaced them with the current bindings thru MSR and have been pleased. Love the narrow width of the shoe and bomber traction on any surface. The parallel traction bars make all the difference. MSR always has a great product.

The Denali Ascent is the best, all around snowshoe. I have gone across ice fields knowing that the only thing bad be loosing my balance. Sometimes I have to look down to make sure their on! They are as much fun going downhill as uphill.

Based on the reviews on this site I recently purchased the Classics with 8" extensions. I use them daily and in nightly hikes with my Great Danes through the forests behind my house. I live in a mountainous area of Northern Ontario. I have been very impressed with the Engineering particularly given their nominal cost. They perform flawlessly and the bindings are easy to get on and off. Now if I could only get my dogs to stop stepping on the backs of snowshoes

Our family owns 4 pairs of Denali classics. They perform very wel and are great for climbing. However, we've experienced failure of the bindings on all 4 pairs (to date). Each time, the metal binding cracks and breaks near the point of attachment to the frams. So far, each pair has been replaced at no cost by MSR. However, it can get tedious having to pack out 10 miles with wire or rope-repaired snowshoes.
