Mountain Hardwear Windshear Jacket Fleece Tops

Mountain Hardwear Windshear Jacket Fleece Tops

DESCRIPTION

The jacket is warm, that's plain to see; that it's also windproof is not so obvious. Laminated between the pile and the microfleece exterior is a Gore WindStopper® membrane, making this Jacket suitable as outerwear. Everything about it is technical: UV-resistant, polyester taslan reinforcements, articulated elbows, non-absorbent Power Stretch cuffs, extra-long pit zips extending from elbow to midriff, and pockets that zip upward (closed sliders sit above a harness or pack belt).

If you want warmth this jacket will no doubt satisfy, the quality is top notch--this jacket will take all the abuse a trail or mountain can offer. Sadly Mountain Hardwear stopped production of this jacket a few years ago--it being overshadowed by the Windstopper Tech. Some people may find the jacket too warm while worn during activity--I would ony wear this jacket while enduring the -30F temps of places like the Adirondacks. My only complaints are that the pit zip loops while zipped up can snag on stuff--I would prefer either double zips or that the zips close towards the body rather than at the elbow. The jacket is heavy which is understandable being that it is old tech.

This jacket is awesome. It should be renamed "north face''s denali on steroids" because that is exactly what it is. It looks like a denali but it''s windproof (and it really is), but it''s made by Mountain Hardwear. Here are some criticism: 1. Try to not spend the retail $250. No fleece is worth that, but this one is worth it at $155. 2. The jacket is a bit bulky. However, that''s the price you pay for iron clad warmth. 3. If you are a climber who is using it for climbing, the jacket fits perfect...when you are climbing. Those who will wear this as casual wear be forewarned that the jacket is a little tight under the arms because the extra fabric is not there to reduce snagging and the pit zippers increase bulk. Overall: The Windshear is worth the $$$. This is one hardcore jacket. Do you think that you can handle it?

This jacket is pricey but well worth it if you are a person who likes to be out no matter what the conditions may be. This jacket is completely sealed from that pesky wind that can make things extra chilly. It also does and excellent job of keeping the in heat. I have been on several trips in cold weather and I was very warm, even when I stopped to take breaks. This is the nicest jacket I have ever put on and it is well worth the steep price.
