I got a pullover style for only $29.00 on clearance. It is much more useful down here in the desert than my 300 Jacket. I like the pullover style better anyway because it is lighter and less bulky.

This fleece gets the job done. I have upgraded to a Patagonia Snap T and love it. I have nto worn the REI fleece since. I acctually found a dreal on the internet for the fleece only costing 40 dollars at mountaingear.com/ It is a site worth checking out. I only wish fleece did not produce so damn much static electricity. Peace out and see you out there. ;-)

It seems there is a new (2001) version of this jacket, so the 2000's are being sold at $35 instead of $55. Now, $35 for a Polartec 200 jacket is a good deal no matter how you look at it :) Good construction and a nice fit, if a little baggy around the middle (and I'm not skinny!) It's comfortable, light and warm. My only real complaint is the lack of a chin guard against the zipper, but for $35 I don't even feel right complaining at all.

Works well under the new Moonstone shell parka I got. I'm happy with it.

Customer Service

REI has always struck me as a little closer to being users of the same products they sell so I always feel good interacting with their customer service.

Tried, but not owned, various jackets by Marmot, Patagonia and other REI items. There was a Marmot jacket I really liked, but for my needs I didn't feel like paying $100 or so when I could sacrifice a few features and get a nice jacket for $35.

A simple, no-frills fleece jacket that's good for the price. The fit is decent, not too snug and loose enough to put layers underneath.

Very good for a simple fleece jacket. It has worked well for me for a long time. The fit of mine is good, but I tried on a new one at REI recently, and the fit was much better. Its not nearly as nice as my MHW, but what you expect for 60 bucks. Very nice value.
