Nidecker Legend Freeride

Nidecker Legend Freeride

DESCRIPTION

This big-mountain board was designed and tested in the Swiss Alps by Verbier Extreme winner Cyril Neri. The Legend's High Speed 8000 sintered base gives you an incredibly fast ride for blasting a narrow couloir or wide-open bowl. Its full-length Kevlar-reinforced wood core and N Concept Construction create a stiff torsional flex for unbelievable edge control at any speed.

I'm on my second legend and am totally happy with it. Very responsive, lightweight, and snappy, it has a very solid feel in all conditions and in all settings. Great at high speed or in the bumps, my first Legend is now my rock board, but it's still going strong (the core shots in the base are too much to repair now - so I went out and found another one just like the first, only newer).

Customer Service

Not much in the way of CS around here (Connecticut). No nearby dealers (they all sell Burton stuff anyway).

Similar Products Used:

Rode a couple of older Burton's (Craig Kelly model from the 90's and then a Cascade that I rode into the ground, but once I demo'ed a Legend, I was hooked. Very versatile.

My wife and I have ridden Nideckers for 10 years and used to love them. My wife rides a princess and I rode a legend. The rail of my legend separated from the core of the board after only riding it 12 times. Coincidentally I had a tiny wax scratch (the kind you get from running over a small stone) directly by the damage, which Nidecker said voided the warranty.

Expensive boards, poor customer service, faulty product. I wouldn't buy it again.
