the Ride Tempest 156 first used in Japan as a learner snowboarder 2000, held onto it over the years while buying and trying other brands of boards, now on a 168 Ride Highlife and this boards smokes as the tempest does, which my wife now, slashing groomed, to cutting long lines in pow, no holding back, full on charging, if high speed big carving turns with control, is your addiction look no further than the two boards mention above, the Ride Slackcountry 161 is a new addition to the quiver which Im sure will live up to my wife and my own expectations steep drops, deep powder speed, carving powder lines. thanks Ride allowing me to come from the surf to enjoy the snow, best of both worlds. |

I got this board when I started, and LOVE IT. I have been using it since I was a sophomore in highschool and I am still riding it today. I am purchasing a new board soon, but this has lasted me a long time and has been a great board all around. I can pick up awesome speed and control is there too. I leave most of my skier friends in the dust. =) |

I'm 5'10'' and 155 and I feel like this board is good on powder days. Its a little big for me in the park, although it is light enough to toss around. I feel like it is a little wide for my 9.5 feet. Overall, I like the board but I find myself riding by Duotone 154 most of the time because it is snappier and holds better edges...to add to that last point I feel like the back edge slips a bit when bombing down the mountain |

Weakness:
None This board is by far the best i've owned. I have been snowboarding for about 6 years now, and i have never seen a more all around and easy, smooth riding board. This board was built mostly to hit the trails, but this board works just as good as other freestyle competitors (Forum,Burton,Jeenyus,Etc..)Overall, another great creation from the ride guys! This beast was my first step into "real boardom" after thrashing around on rentals and demos. Once I strapped this on, all the chattering disappeared and it was rock, rock solid. I'm a bigger guy at 6'0 230 lbs and it's comforting to know I've got this under me. I've just added some flow bindings that are creamy, too. |

Strength:
flexibility, balance, landings, speed.
Weakness:
rails, the board feels a little stiff on rails making it even harder to nose press them. this board took my riding ability, level, and amplitude and raised it to a high i have never felt before. the ride tempest has a smooth balanced ride but can be taken on almost any terrain you want to hit. from 20 foot kickers to super pipes or even to the terrain park the board gives a level of comfort unsurpassed by any other i have ever rode. this board has no problems with speed even though it was designed to be a freestyle board, but thanks to its freestyle design flexibility is never a problem either. deffinately ride will be my company of choice for a long time. also to compliment my 161 ride tempest i bought the ride team bindings. these bindings go great with this all around amazing snowboard giving better reaction time, smoother landings, and better control over ruff or smooth hills. Similar Products Used: my first ride board actually but i have used many different ones before it, such as: burton, sims, gnu, limited, option/nfa, k2 and forum. |

Strength:
carves great, excels in park and crusing
Weakness:
none that i can think of this board rocks, you could tear it in the back country or in park, it works great everywhere. This is the most stable board i have ever ridden even at the highest speed. This is a great park board too, it swings easy and is a light board also. Buy it! Similar Products Used: none |
