The Makalus are the first crampons I have owned so I don't have much to compare them against. However, the crampons have still impressed me with their ease of adjustment, their ability to clip on to all types of boots, and the fact that they can climb steep ice and then still be comfortable to walk and hike in. I bought these crampons on sale for about 100 dollars so they are quite a steal for me.
