at Gear Swap Summary: I bought these crampons at a school organized gear swap, minus the anti-balling plates and fixing screws for a great price. I have used them on a bit of vertical ice, which they seem to work okay, but are unstable due to the lack of rigidity w/o screws (and my boots aren't fully rigid either). I have mostly used them for glacier travel for which they work fantastically. I have never had any problems with snow balling up, even without the plates. The only complaint I may have is that the crampon doesn't bend in the exact same place as my boot, and this can't be adjusted once they are fit to your boot. I'm not sure how bad that is though, since I haven't had any problems, yet. Overall, ideal for my minimal vert and major glacier walking, but I wouldn't pay $180 for them. Customer Service: No idea.
