Good light for trail running at night. great on roads at night. All the critters eyes light up when they look at me when I run by. I think they don't know what to make of humans running after dark.
The light fades when running below freezing temps. The colder the faster it fades, probably cold batteries.

Och, it's awesome. I take it on every trip, have used it a ton. It's pretty bright w/ full juice but right now my bats are low so ja know...but I've used it for camping, reading, wood-gathering, going to nasty outhouses, et al. never any problems. I would hate a big battery pack on the back of my head, so I love this one being so dang small and light. I really use it mostly for work. I work at an airport and there's nothing else that'll do for fueling at night...a plane pulls up, waddaya gonna do, I gotta have both hands free, it lets me see the gas so I don't overflow it.

I was the first of my hiking buddies to get a LED headlight now they all have one. I night hike quite a bit and this has plenty of light for any night hike. You do not need to worry about carring batteries so that is less weight to carry on the trail. Great white light to cook with too. Only downside is since it is LED it does not put out a beam, which is expected. I even carry this in my car for night time map reading too. Makes a great present for the neices and nephews too.

My research showed this to be a contender for my occasional night time running / hiking / camping. REI currently (Aug 2003) has it on sale for just $17.95 (vs $24.95). Other reviews will detail the technical merits, but at this price, there is no competition for an occasional user like me.

A great Headlamp, real light powerfull and easy on batteries. Best headlamo ever. I hear the Zipka is good also. this baby's been winnter camping, backpacking climbing and canoeing.

Very handy little light at home or on the trail. The three LEDs throw out a generous amount of light and are sparing of the batteries. It really came in handy when I and some friends tarried too long on a mountain in southern Italy and needed some light on the trail down. Also, it comes in handy when you want to read in bed and not disturb your spouse's slumber. I stuffed one in my wife's Christmas stocking Christmas so she wouldn't disturb my slumber.

I was used to a large petzl head torch and was amazed at the lightness and comfort offered by this product. Its good for close work but not the best for coming down off hills at night when you need a long beam. You can wear it loosely round your neck while not using it, or fit into your hip pocket when heading off to the local climbers bar! The other major improvement is that the light is very bright blue/white, giving you colour nightvision - handy when trying to establish how well cooked your chicken is!

I was looking for a good lightweight that I could use for running at night.. My search provided a couple of choice, the Tikka and BD Moonlight. After trying both of these extensively, they are very different lights. The Tikka provides good light for up 10-15 feet in front of you and it is super-lightweight and comfortable. The BD was not as comfortable and seemed to throw just a little more light, but the lightness and comfort of the Tikka won hands down. This isn't a light I would use for running down a rocky trail but in a pinch it is plenty bright and the batteries seem to run forever. A couple of my friends asked on a run what the hell is that thing, then after a couple of runs asked where did you buy that thing, I need to get one. Some people complained that you cannot adjust the beam, I found this to be a non-issue running at night, the light is exactly where you want it to be. The light also shine perfectly fine over a baseball cap

This is a very good lightweight headlamp. I used one on my AT thru-hike last year and it held up the whole way. The only complaint I have is that it needs a new switch mechanism. THe one on it is kinda flimsy and loose. Mine is a real pain to turn on and keep on sometimes. It would also be nice if it were waterproof and came with some sort of storage pouch. But hey, it throws light well for around camp and the batteries last forever. Its pretty much changed the headlamp market.

This has to be the most cost effecive and weight efficient headlamp I have ever used. Batteries seem to go forever and the only complaint comes from other people when they are dazzled by the light!
