Great, great pack. Very adjustable, which is handy because we all know how fit determines comfort. Very well put together. Rock solid. Personally, I like the low frills. Just a couple of pockets and straps. Well worth it.

This was my first internal pack and I must say that it is wonderful! At first I thought it was a bit too small for week long trips but it has taught me to pack smarter and lighter. My first trip with it was a 3 night trip in the Santa Cruz Mountains. I''m not sure of the weight I carried but I''m guessing it was about 40 lbs. At first the pack was uncomfortable, especially on my shoulders but after spending two days dialing it in it finally fit like a glove. For me this pack is ideal for three day and week long trips, any thing longer would be pushing it. Hope this helps!

Customer Service

Have not used it for the pack but called and asked questions regarding acessories and they were very helpful!

I''''m really impressed with this pack! I have the new/lighter 2002 version and could not be happier with it. Just finished a one day, 10 mile hike with this pack and was amazed at how it handled my 14''''er prep load of about 30lbs... almost felt like it wasn''''t there. Plenty of pack for a multi day trip, hugs the body wonderfully and has bombproof construction and design. You won''''t go wrong with the Palisade. I tried several other packs and could not find one that fit like this Gregory pack. I''''m 6 ft tall, 200 lbs. This pack felt as though it was made for my body.

I have used this pack on several trips and though the hip belt hurt my bony hips at first, now that the foam has conformed to me, it is a lovely thing. The removable top lid and the pocket on the back are very helpful for organizing, but isn''t too complicated. It carries weight very well and is big enough for a decent length summer trip. It''s a bit heavy empty, but it''s carrying ability makes up for that.

The Palisade has been a great pack for me all-around. It has been my first foray into the internal-pack spectrum, and I am quite impressed. With Gregory''s custom-fit system, I have a pack that hugs my body well and makes it a joy to carry around my normal loads of 30-50 lb. The Palisade does not have a huge amount of pockets, but it suits me fine, being able to store everything I might need for the day in the top and front pockets. A slight complaint is that the left water bottle pocket (mesh) is almost too far back to be able to get out by myself. I can manage it, but I usually make sure to keep my current water bottle in the right pocket. Also, if you wrap duct-tape around your water bottles, it''ll make it quite hard to be able to squeeze your bottle in or out of either pocket. Otherwise, this is a solid pack, and a great buy for its quality.

I love this backpack. I took it on an eleven-day trek through the mountains in New Mexico, and I never once had a complaint. I put this thing through hell, and it never failed once. The compression straps are great, and so are all the other interesting features. I especially like the top compartment, which I use to store my raingear and pack cover (I can get them out without ever stopping). The top also comes off into a very convenient fanny pack perfect for sidehikes. The pack is so comfortable you feel like you aren't carrying a thing, and it is built like a rock. I will never buy another pack!

Picked this pack up in May '01, and then proceeded to take it through a month of NW American hell. Performed flawlessly through many different terrains and temperatures, and remained comfortable the whole way. After 6 days in the hot dry Wenaha-Tucannan wilderness, the 50lbs stayed comfortably glued to my back, with fast and smooth compression straps galore. Followed that with 3 days on the coast, then 10 days for Wonderland, and 200 mi later, I have zero complaints and would recommend it for anyone. If planning on doing any more than 10 days, though, you may be constrained if caching of food/gear isn't an option. Not a problem with the pack, though!

Pack rides VERY well. I'm 6'2" and weigh 230 . . . not small! I do wish the pack had more small pack areas rather than one large area accessable from the rear. Before this, I had an external frame Alpenlite pack I had carried for years. This is a great improvement.

This is a great no frills pack. You don't get a lot of small pockets but who needs them anyway. Normally runs about $250 but I got it through Gregories parent company Bianchi because I used to work for a distributer of their products so I only paid cost. Suspention is great and you can really adjust it to your liking.

What can I say... AWSOME PACK! I have tried many different packs over the years but this one is my favorite by far! I carries 40+ loads with ease. Great for summer backpacking but a bit small for winter mountaineering. For that I have the Denali Pro. Another great pack as well! Would recommend this pack to anyone
