The Red Cloud 5400 has high quality construction, and enough total room to make it challenging to need any more space. Customer Service I have had no failures so far. This pack is now about 6 months old and has been used on about three solid trips. Similar Products Used: Have had no reason to venture from Kelty so far. The reasonable price and solid construction have been sufficient for my needs. |

Purchased this pack for my first backpacking trip. Researched many products before purchasing and found this pack to be the best size for the $$. (Bought it on sale for $129.00). Hiked 25 miles from North to South Rim of the Grand Canyon, spent 4 nights in the canyon, the pack worked great. As many first time packers do, I took way too much stuff but the pack performed very well. Theres plenty of outside compartments. Did not have any problem with the zippers. There were 6 in our group, 4 of us carried this same pack. At the end of the trip, there was a small tear in the seam of the attaching fanny pack. Kelty impressed me: it was repaired under warranty and returned back on my door step 10 days after I sent it to them. I like a company who stands behind their product. Similar Products Used: None |

Excellent entry level pack. It offers excellent adjustability, but it took me a while to get mine dialed in. Loading it correctly also is a great help to the feel. One of the best packs for under $200 that I was able to find. Some external pockets and lots of gear lash points are a big bonus. Zippers look like they may be a little weak, but so far (~1yr) I haven't had any problems. Similar Products Used: None |

The RED CLOUD IS A GREAT PACK TO GRAB FOR THE WEEKEND. THE PRICE IS RIGHT FOR THIS PACK . I own several top dollar packs and as far as comfort and durability you cant beat it. My pack is several years old and still works just like new. Plenty of room and easy to get things in and out of. I usually will loan this pack to a friend who wants to go hiking but dosent have the equipment. I have found this pack to be very duarable and worth every dime. when I purchased the red cloud it was a little more expensive than now witch makes it an even better buy. this pack would be great for a first timmer. even with all my other packs I like to take this one out evey now and than. this is a great pack. lots of outside pockets for easy access. this is the fourth kelty pack I've had in twenty seven years of long distance packing. I've tried a few different packs over the years and keep coming back to kelty. parts and repairs can be found at almost any small town gear stores. this is very important for distance hiking. if you take the time to adjust it properly for wieght and balance it rides perfectly. |

This pack is huge! For me it is too big. I hike on weekends and never fill it up. When I started backpacking I carried too much, but I could always fit whatever I brought into the Red Cloud. It has a good suspension system that is fully adjustable. Because of its capacity it is a little heavy. |

I think this is a good pack to start out with. It has some nice features but also some extranneous ones. If you only plan weekend outings with maybe one week-longer per year it will be fine. A friend of mine has one also and hates it. If you learn how to load it correctly (it takes a little fussing), and it fits your body shape well, then it's a great pack, but if it doesn't it will be miserable. Similar Products Used: None |

I am a casual Backpacker with maybe two extended hikes a year, this pack works well, and seems pretty durable. I am also a Boy scout, so I use it for alot of overnight campouts, and it has all the room necessary to bring supplies accidentally forgotten by my patrol Similar Products Used: None |
