I used this back for years; served well; but found that 45lbs or more; the pack didn't perform well. Very good as a secondary pack for friends; universal; easily adjustable. EXCELLENT FIRST PACK!! Similar Products Used: Gregory Denali Pro |

This pack is a great internal. It costed me only $160 so I couldn't beat it. It is extremely confortable for long days on the trail. It could use more daisy chains but for $249 what more can you ask for? Similar Products Used: Northface, Jansport |

I have on thing to say about the Contour IV HUGE!! I love this pack as I carry my stuff and My sons (he is only five)!! I have taken this on some Serious Elk hunts. I always seem to be able to fit in that extra pair of Whatever!! It is a little large for the average backpacker though Customer Service Never had to call them as this thing is BOMBPROOF Similar Products Used: I have tried TNF crap! Overpriced and under developed!! Just stick with Lowe They know how it is done! |

I've used my Contour IV for about a year now, and love it. Its got more than enough space to hold a weeks worth of gear, and is an excellent pack to have along when camping with kids who can't carry much. It's bombproof and very comfortable, but is not for everybody. I love the fact that it has no outside pockets or other gadgets, but some people hate it because of that. I've found the top lid to be enough space for small items, and the huge sleeping bag compartment opening makes getting to the bottom of the bag a breeze. Similar Products Used: None |

-This is a great pack. The straps can be adjusted to fit almost anybody. -Another thing that I like about this pack is that its huge. This is a mixed blessing though. You can pack a lot of stuff but sometimes the pack will get bigger than you can handle. It's no problem for me (6'4"" 245 lbs.) but it may be for somebody who isn't as big. Lowe Alpine makes up for this by making smaller sizes. -The weight can be shifted using nifty little staps on the shoulder straps or the waist belt. -You can never take up all the space in this pack because there is a 2 foot long extendable sleeve at the top to put more stuff in. It's also completely waterproof Customer Service Never had to call them Similar Products Used: External Frame |

Weakness:
None Although I did not pay the full ammount for this pack, getting it used, I would now be willing to. I do trail work in the mountains of Maine and have shoved everything from chainsaws to axes to rock bars in this pack. The back support system allows me to carry 100 to 120lb loads easier than carrying 30lbs in my daypack. I am hooked for life on lowe alpine after this. The camelbak compartment, sleeping bag compartment that unzips to make the pack one large compartment. I would recommend this pack to those ready to fill it. This is 5000 cubic inches of room that allows for backpackers to be out for days on end. As a day pack or for day hikers, it is too much room. I know because end up filling it with useless junk. The outer straps and loops are essential to the pack''s versatility. As a climber, I can pack climbing gear in the sleeping bag compartment and attach cams, biners, etc to the outer pack. It gives so many options to stabilize what is on the outside as well. The pack, in short, I would say is for those prepared to fill it. Similar Products Used: Gregory Wind River Osprey 5000cu in.
